I have the engine out of the griff and have supported the box with a trolley jack. However I need to move the car around, if I remove the trolley jack the gearbox only drops a couple of inches and seems to be self supporting.

Do I need to support the box or will it support itself on the gearbox mounts? I don't want to stress the linkage! If not how can I support the box and still move the car about? Any tips guys?

I used a bit of wood with 2 screws in in.

the wood goes between the chassis rails and the 2 screws slot into the bell housing holes

so the wood is across the front of the bell housing.
