Food at the the Neil Garner Open Day - March 30th

I have been asked a few questions about the food arrangements re the Neil Garner Open Day on March 30th at SN16 9SH ... So I thought I would update you all - especially those that haven't been before.
Basically, we have given first choice to the landlord of where the Wiltshire TVRCC have their monthly meet for all the catering arrangements - In a way just to say 'thank you' for his support during our monthly meets at The Plough - Kington Langley near Chippenham.
Hence the catering will be: - Pay As You Go!
We had some minor technical errors - being as it was our first big event last year and 'hopefully' we have learnt from last year's mistakes - The landlord is on our side and wants to make sure we get it right! Incidentally the pub has donated a full 3 course meal for two, valued at around £75.00 for the raffle - good on him. The voucher will be up for grabs like many other prizes on the day.
1. Burgers were frozen, hence longer to cook - that wont happen this year!
2. Coffee WAS £2.00 We have since spoken to the him and the price has been agreed THIS YEAR to £1.50. - (No the cups won't be smaller!)
3. Excess queues formed last year due to one gas burner for the burgers, There will be TWO burners - with non frozen burgers, cooking and serving time should be greatly improved
4. Water urn for the coffee and tea - fuse kept tripping - THAT should be fixed this year - hence serving time will be quicker too
5. Bacon Butties will be available for breakfast i.e something different for the traders and 'early-birds' with burgers and sausages served later (approx 11am onwards)
6. Snacks, such as chocolate bars and crisps - as expected will be available.
As of the car parking, this is why it is important that we ask you to add your names to the list - that way we get a 'rough' idea of whose coming (if you know of any one who intends to come but hasn't added their name, can you please get them to add to the list - Thank you). We will never know the exact number before the day. Bad weather could put paid to that. But what it does tells us, this year we WILL have more people coming than last year. This in turn helps us with the catering and parking requirements.
Also for those of you who came last year - we have also moved the port-o-loos. They will be sited up at the top end where the majority of the show is rather than at the bottom of the car park. We do listen to 'customer' feed back!

I would suggest that there is some kind of 'sequence' to the cooking like they appear to have at burger vans at footie matches etc. e.g. a reasonable number of burgers and sausages part-cooked (based on expected customers) such that there is less time to 'produce' a ready burger or sausage bap.
Also somewhere to keep fully cooked burgers/sausages hot, ready for serving up, freeing up the cooking plates/burners, so that more can be 'in production' ready for the next wave of customers. Cooking on demand and cooking from cold is what causes the queues - not frozen to begin with will make a difference but not as much as you expect.
Separate person serving drinks than food too might help.
Seems to help deal with the peaks and troughs of customers at such events in my experience.
Looking forward to the event - hope it's as good as last year.

As a 'newbie' to the TVR fold and never been to a meet before, what can I expect on the day? I'm sure there will be others like me who have never been before.
As it is over Easter, my parents are visiting that weekend and its my mums birthday that Saturday, I'm definitely coming (it's only 5 miles from where I live!!!) but I reckon I'll only be there for 2 to 3 hours.
Also, is the environment OK for children? I'm sure my 6 year old daughter would love to come. She is ever so excited about daddy having a convertible.

It is a very friendly atmosphere where complete strangers seem to just get chatting to each other over a mutual love for TVR's. Very grown up and civilized so it will be great for the kids. Just hope the weather is better for you Guys this year it was wet last year but the spirits were not dampened too much. As it is over Easter, my parents are visiting that weekend and its my mums birthday that Saturday, I'm definitely coming (it's only 5 miles from where I live!!!) but I reckon I'll only be there for 2 to 3 hours.
Also, is the environment OK for children? I'm sure my 6 year old daughter would love to come. She is ever so excited about daddy having a convertible.

Agree with that - There will be 'some' children - not many as like the previous post said - more grown ups! It kinda of rained last year - so finger's crossed for NO rain this year!
