Hi Everybody,

I'm a French TVR fan, recently baught a nice Chimaera and the car has a "private" plate: censored
I have a receipt where it is written that this plate is estimate at £400.

Is it possible to sell it in UK ?

Hi Simon,

Hate to disappoint you , but it's not really a private plate , it's simply a 1994 plate that has two digits instead of three (so one of the lower numbered ones).

Plates like this are worth very little, it will possibly appeal to someone who has the initials "MBC",
but i wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a sale...

I would say the best thing to do would be to advertise it on eBay although realistically i'd be surprised if the auction reaches £100, so take away auction fees you'll still have a little profit.

Good luck !

I don't know anyone with the initials "MBC" otherwise i'd have them contact you smile

Cheers,

buitonni

thank you for your answer.

no problems if the plates have poor value.

I keep them for the remember.

I have the old V5 where is mentioned the name of the people who made these plates.

Surely it's worth nothing at all unless it's on retention?

indeed. put it on retention then list it with one of the reg companies. they can give youa valuation, but its only worth what you sell it for.

And if the car has already been exported, as far as DVLA are concerned, the number is lost in the system.
