Rosso Pearl is it too pink in colour

Hi There

For one reason or another I need another respray. After it was first done I still thought it looked relatively pink. This shows up in strong sunlight but it looks much better under fluorescent light in the garage. Since it has to be re-done is there a way to make it more red? For example I was wondering if the primer was grey not white would this work???

Hi mate
Primer can be tinted to any colour black primer
May help
But it will depend on the mix of paint
Because paint is made up of lots of different colours
It can be tweaked to change the shade
Have a word with the paint shop that did it and get them to do lots
Of different shades and always check them in day light not in doors

Not Rosso Pearl but got my Starmist Blue a different shade by the angle of the spray gun to the body work, this made the mica lay at a slightly different angle so giving a different reflection.
Spent a lot of time with the spray shop adding different shades etc but never really got the effect I wanted. In the end we tried the different angle and it was pretty much exactly as I wanted it.

Have a word with the chaps doing it.

Mine was Rosso Pearl and I thought exactly the same.. in sunlight it looked a bit like Barby should be in it
So got mine re-done in Red Glow Pearl.... Much better red... still as nice under the lights but does not bleach out when the sun's out (when ever that is )

I have a Rosso Red that has been resprayed (before I got it), there is a special way of doing it. I think from memory it needs a special slow cure lacquer to bring through the colour and stop the pink. The best person to talk to is Malcolm at S&D. 99% of bodyshops won't spray it the right colour and despite giving them the instructions from S&D my shop didn't either when I wanted a front end touchup. Good job really as it wouldn't have matched the rest of the car.

I am not going for Red pearl when I respray the whole car......

The problem is that if fades with the sun over time... you need a more modern paint thats going to go the distance

My Rosso pearl looks like many different shades depending on the light:

My car is Red Glow and I had a respray in 2009. I also got a spare bonnet,front grill and splitters sprayed at the same time which have been wrapped up ever since. Last week I had the spare panels fitted because I thought the car maybe fading and if I left it any longer, then the difference would show. I am pleased to say there has been no fading in the 4 years. Red Glow would be my suggestion as the way to go... as said previously speak to Malcolm Ashworth (potato muncher) at S&D , he did mine.

Mines rosso pearl, never had it looking pink but I quite like the faded colour it is now.
Surface and design told me they layer on the paint then put the lacquer on when it's wet, really thick so the paint seeps into the lacquer, and repeat to build up the depth of colour.

Talk to Malcolm at S&D, I have an Imola red M3 and love red, just not Rosso Pearl 2........

I also need a respray at some time and would love to look at a Candy red

I'm sure someone will come along to correct me if I'm wrong but Rosso Pearl is an "unstable" colour, Peter Wheeler was told this when TVR used it as the colour on a show car but TVR went ahead and added it as a colour choice for their range.

Rosso Pearl goes pink over time and that's entirely normal, not good, but normal. This is the "instability" that was originally spoken about to Wheeler. Best to get it redone in another shade if it comes to it......red glow is a great alternative.

Hum - I like that colour - quite close to mine already
