Does Brake/clutch fluid go off?

I've got a bottle of dot4 in the shed, opened, probably had it for at least 3 years, is it still ok to use or should I just get some fresh to be on the safe side?

Throw it away as brake fluid (Non silicon type) is Hygroscopic, that is, it absorbs water from the atmosphere. The effect is that the boiling point is seriously lowered.

A sealed container or unopened can may be stored for a number of years - opened, use within 3/6 months.

Don't throw it away, take it to your nearest local council recycling centre to be disposed of properly. It is quite toxic if released into the environment.

Look for 300C or thereabouts temp rating, usually dot 4. Carbone Lorraine/motul/AP etc.

Don't worry, it will no doubt still be sat in the shed for another few years before I get around to disposing of it responsibly.

I bought some fresh with the intention of topping up brake and clutch fluid, but the brake reservoir was full and when I saw what a faff it is to check the clutch fluid on a Cerbera, I gave it a miss!
Still, wanted some to take with me on my fisrt trackday this Sunday just in case.
