R1Rs, what's going on here?

800 road miles fairly sensibly driven and a wet TD at Bedford.

Each rear has about 10-12 of these patches that have gone AWOL and what can be described as the same number of slits that may be the start of another patch about to say "bye bye"!

This only seems to be on the rears.

Any ideas 'cause I am peed off as I have a TD booked or Wednesday at Snetterton?

Soft compound Peter, but pretty sure they shouldnt wear like that. As said i would get onto supplier and try and get some free replacements.

The fronts that were sourced from a different dealer are perfect and they do all the hard braking.

Looks like it may be a dodgy batch?

This year, about 800 miles.

I never had problems with the Triple 8s, even run them till bald!

If the dealer fks you off then go straight to Toyo...if there's no joy still then threaten to plaster all the track day websites and fb pages with your pictures

I had a couple of rear Dunlop bike tyres do that, was a chemistry issue with the compound mix. Were replaced without quibble.

Didn't Toyo pull the R1Rs for a while early on due to manufacturing issues? Have you checked the manufacture date on them?

They can't handle Peters engine power! That not right Peter they must be replaced errr the depth of the groove proves they've done no miles! goodluck.

Just done some googling and i can't find a reference to the R1Rs being recalled.

Just checked the outer walls and there is no date like there was on the triple 8s that I had fitted last.

First call to dealer tomorrow!

Looks to me like the blisters have appeared on one band of the tyre, all in a line. Deffo a manufacturing fault

But on the outside for the other side of the car? I think 888s are directional but not assymetric and directional.

Yes i'd go with Alex Rolling road damage is a poss.My rolling road tyres are worse than that.Hot spot blistering usually from ribbed rollers.

No rolling road yet!

These tyres have had no worse treatment then my daily driver + one wet TD so must be a defect.

No answer as yet from the dealer, lets hope it's a 9am start!

What an arse, of course it's been on an RR, that's where it was mapped!

Surely tyres should hold up to that treatment even if its had an hour or two on the RR?
