suggestions please for a Griff & tuned Fiat Coupe 20vt classic insurance (not requiring / mirroring main car NCB) Fiat could be sub 6k miles and Griff sub 4k mls - one or both laid up winters.

Must be highly respected insurers accepting indi Specialist valuation (TVR)

NB whilst the Griff is std the Coop will be road modified

cheers guys, ironically I checked back with them (having used them til recently for Griff)to see if they provide proper discount for the cars that arent being driven, if you see what i mean (can only drive one car at a time, so only one exposed to risk other than car value, which on a used car in insurance terms isnt he real worry)

Have to see when I have specific vehicles, as their rough guide was c £300 for a £2k fiat coupe as second car, which seems a bit steep when as i say the driving risk can only be charged for on one vehicle - you would think if paying say £300 for a £15k tvr, then the excess for a £2k fiat (when only one can be driven at any time) would be more like + 30%, ie £100 in this example?

Driving say 4 classics with an average value of less than ten k shouldnt be near 4 times prem of TVR, £1200? - I would have thought additional vehicles (effectively 'undriven') attracting an additional 1/3rd of main premium to be more than enough? ie £700 in this case

But have they reflected the fact that you can only expose one to road risk at any one time? We should only be being paying a notional fee (laid up level) for all cars, less a discount for multiple insurance business + an average of the full risk classic risk (less the laid-up rate) of all the vehicles times one - anything other than that is to say the least, unfair!?

Personally I'm insured via A Manning who seem to know what they're talking about.

However, I have two friends who are both 28 one has about 7 cars, including an Audi R8 V10, Ferarri 348, new SLK 350, Audi Quattro, the other has a Wedge 400SE, Masarati 222SE Bi Turbo, CLK 320 cab, etc etc and they both swear by Equity Red Star - as they are both customers, they are insured to drive each others cars and do so regularly. Other cars they've had between them include Aston Vantage, Roller, Lotus Exige, Lotus Excel, Brooke, Porsche Turbo etc so you get the idea - expensive high performance cars - and their premiums are always surprisingly low. ERS never complain when they add or delete a car to/from the policy, they just do it and there's never a huge increase in premium. ERS are well worth a call if you have more than one specialist car.

Lancaster are also pretty good.

Try Neil Willies for the Coupe.

They have a special deal for FCCUK members - I've just had my renewal in at £220. Admittedly, this is for my bog-standard 16v non turbo - my modded 20vt costs nearer £700 with Adrian Flux (Neil Willies got very close), but as its well over double the stock bhp and does 30,000 miles a year, it's not really representative
