A slightly strange tale:
When I was 16 my father gave me a watch as a gift. This would have been nearly 25 years ago now.
A long story short, I managed to lose the watch around 15 years ago and have been gutted ever since. I always thought I had put it somewhere safe and then forgotten where, so had completely stripped my flat at the time even cutting open the new sofa in a last ditch attempt to find it. No luck.
So, that's the first part of the tale. The second part was that at the time I owned the ex Gerry Marshall 4.3BV Griff. The only other possession I treasured as much as the watch. Around 7 or so years ago I made the mistake of selling it. Something I have often regretted. Having owned it for nearly 13 years and all through my 20s it is linked to some of my best memories and some legendary road trips. The TVR Centre sold it on to another PHer and we had the odd email chat now and then over the years since about the car.
Early this week, Tildo430 (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?memberId=67850) gave me a call out of the blue and explained that he had started work on a bit of a resto of the Griff and lodged in a part of the boot by the chassis he had found a couple of French Francs and my watch!!!!!
Having thought about how the watch could have ended up there the only theory that I have is that we used to go to Le Mans in the 90s before the campsites were developed and the place was always over run by pickpockets at the circuit and theives in the campsites, so I suspect that not wanting to wear the watch while up at the circuit but needing a good hiding place at the campsite I hid it lodged away in a crevis of the boot. By the time I next went to wear the watch I had totally forgotten where I had put it.
The watch arrived today all neatly packed in a child's shoe box (the only thing better would have been if it was wrapped in my old Griff
). A good way to start the Bank Holiday and a huge debt of gratitude to Tildo 430 and I hope you have many more fantastic years with one of the best Griffs ever made.

Great story.
It gives you that warm fuzzy feeling when you get a treasured possession back.
About 3-5 years ago I mislaid my TVR cufflinks, bought by my wife, at a club Christmas bash. 'Phoned the hotel, searched the car..da-di-da. Checking my old dinner suit for my son to borrow last Xmas, and what did I find?? Yep, the cufflinks, in the top pocket of the jacket.
