Chassis Refurb
Discussion
In that case I'd just give a few a call. Its a bit of an unknown until the chassis is fully exposed as to how much repairs it will need and that of course impacts the time to repair.
Depending on how much work they have on, I'd say it could be turned round in 6-8 weeks, but again that depends on how much chassis work is required. Mine was basically rebuilt from the bulkhead forward and took 4 months, but did also tell them not to rush as the bill kept going up, so needed to keep saving for the final bill!

just for the future, in case, what would an estimated cost be for a full garage work?
Again best thign would be to give a couple of garages a call for at least a ball park number, I woldnt want to guess as I did the engine out and body off (with much help!) at home, so all I took to to RT Racing was the stripped chassis. With mine however, the chassis repairs were quite extensive, everything that went back on was new and I got them to re-build it. Total bill was a shade over £7k.
RT make new Griff/Chimp chassis for less than the repairs to my Cerb, so it could be much cheaper for a brand new chassis.
Here are some things to think about
Parts delivery time. Some companies will deliver next day some will take a couple of days or like my gaz gold pros they took a month.
The age and condition of the car will determine how quickly nuts and bolts will come off. Some may be rustier then others and may take more force or a blow torch therefor adding time.
Having the chassis re bushed is/could be a long process depending on how old, stiff, tight the bushes are.
The garage who are doing the work may not only be working on your car (unless you pay extra) they will have other jobs to do, other cars to work on.
Is it just a full body off refurb or are you considering a new clutch, cam etc… all this extra work will add time but will save you money later on as the engine will be out it makes sense to have them changed or look at.
If you want the job done well and properly expect to not have her for at least two to four months.
As for cost Southways automotive in Fareham are doing it for £4500 inc vat but that is for a chim/griff, anything else it’s best to ask.
So if you were to take it to them thats 4.5k plus extra parts and extra labour.
I’ve spent at least 2.5k on parts for my refurb. But I did get quiet a lot of stuff
Induction kit from act, new braided break hose, break pipe kit, hand break cable, wheel plate badges, throttle cable, door glass rubber seal, window motor, fuel lines, power stearing upgrade lines , aluminium rad cover, ,wheel refurb, two new front tyres, New ap racing clutch, 885spec Cam kit, two head gaskets, Air con condenser/dryer, Water pump, Heat shielding for the transmission tunnel, two lower Ball joints, Gaz gold pros and a couple of tanks of petrol to get down there and back to either drop parts off or just to see the progress.
Expect to spend a minimum of 7-8k.
But that’s just my two cents worth.

Has anyone had a garage strip their car and then took chassis away to do yourself then them rebuild?
As a 'Garage' I would have to say NO to such a request. We have a number of customers who have taken away bits to refurb, paint, polish etc but the chassis would be a no.
It has to be done very well or it will not fit back under the body. The floor pan has a number of moulded recesses that the chassis must fit back into or it will not bolt up properly.

Ten months but then I've not been in any rush, and you know what it's like, whilst its apart it'll be silly not to do things like, polly bush everything, new fuel line, brake lines, all new cooling pipes (6 week wait as I wanted a red set and they had to be made), nitron shocked back to nitron for a refurb, new starter...
Then there's the fettling, the little bespoke brackets and mounts that were made, all new nuts and bolts...
I get it back tomorrow
