Oh jesus.

I don't think it could come back any time soon (as tvr) with the amount of cr@p TVR fans have been subjected to by various individuals.

Makes me a little sad every day to be honest frown

Actually this is interesting as TVRMotors.co.uk and .com which was registered to Smolenski's Muadib Beteiligung holding company are also now registered to that company. scratchchin

So either someone has acquired the marque off the him or he's finally lost all interest and taken his eye off the ball and someone has spotted the opportunity as TVR.com is now owned by an American company

Its a piece of british history that produced unique and brilliant products that closed for the wrong reasons.

I'm just very passionate about the brand...

I wouldn't spend £50k (realistically) on a brand new TVR. It would have ABS, airbags etc. I would rather spend £10k to £30k on a real one.

You wouldn't get that level of equipment at £50k from a low volume manufacturer, it's just not viable at the kind of numbers you'd be selling.

Isn't it a legal requirement to have ABS? Airbags too I think.

A new TVR would almost certainly use a small capacity turbo lump. It would have to be sanitised from a noise / co2 point of view too.

Fact is, the world has changed. TVRs are dinosaurs and everything that made them special has been regulated against.

Better off dead.

No, it isn't a legal requirement. And, no, they would not have to be be subject to CO2 regulations either unless a revitalised TVR went for full Type Approval on their new car(s).

To avoid type do you just need to stay below a certain volume?

I dont believe the Ginetta G40r road car has abs/tcs/airbags or anything like that iirc each car goes through iva, and tvrs went through sva that preceeded it

The last TVR to take a crash test ( and pass) was the tasmin

Presumably they'd want to be outselling Ginetta by 50:1 at least. Imagine if they had to lower average emissions by doing a TVR Proton Myvvi.

Caterhams don't yet have ABS. Nor does the Ariel Atom (as far as I'm aware).
