hi all looking for a bit of help I have a rover 4.6 v8 in a westfield which keeps hunting and cutting out when it gets hot .
we have changed the
ecu
temp switch
air flow meter
both lambda probes
throttle potentiometer
idle valve
checked for vacunm leaks
now checking wireing loom
any ideas what else it could be cheers

Blitzracing sells Rovergauge with the cable and drivers in the classifieds for about £35 I think. Well worth getting if you have a 14CUX ECU.

Idle issues can be difficult to pin down, certainly a misfire due to amp, amp trigger or coil can be enough to stall the engine. At low rpm the trigger signal from the dizzy to the amp is small, so check the airgap between the rotor and pickup. Also any change in mixture due to an airleak anywhere around the plenum can be enough to make it stall. Its not obvious above idle, as the vaccume is reduced, and airflow greater, together with fuel, so any mixture changes are greatly reduced if you have an air leak, so you dont notice the issue. RoverGauge will show you the overall fueling status with both long term and short term fuel trim. I have cables for sale in the classified add under TVR. You can just try winding the base idle up to say 800 rpm as a workaround.

As the loom may have been modified or may not have started life with that engine rovergauge will show if the ECU is running the correct map. The map selection is via a resitor fitted in the loom. This may be wrong or missing.
