This is HUGE and unexpected news for the TVR world!

Let's hope for all concerned that the new owner has realistic goals, a well thought out business plan, but most importantly a desirable and profitable product.

I suspect alternative fuels/hybrids will feature heavily due to the significant tax incentives available, lack of competition, and less emissions compliance difficulties.

I seriously doubt they will either create a Hybrid or use alternative fuels. Development costs for a new low production vehicle will be high enough as it is, trying to develop a Hybrid would be financial suicide. Even if they did, the cost would drive the price of a new car extremely high. Just go and price any new Hybrid, they are bloody expensive. More likely, they will use running gear from a current model V6/V8 and tweak it a bit (as most low volume sports car manufacturers do) to keep costs down.

Exactly - it may be the TVR name but will it still be a TVR?
The whole point of a TVR is handbuilt, powerful, light and above all relatively affordable. If they produce an LS powered 2 seater costing 100k or there abouts at a totally different site, using different crafsmen but just stick a TVR badge on the front how is that the same as TVRs of old?

TVR as we know it has been dead along time, you can not produce low volume hand built sports cars for 40-50K anymore those days are long gone.

I dont see how anyone is going to be able to produce (and sell) the amount of cars they would need to sell to make it viable.

they struggle selling road cars, too much emphasis on racing. Had a tour of the factory, very slick, but if the road cars are crap.....
