I have a Mk 1 Tuscan a ever since owning it the water temp has not worked. its never really bothered me but I think its about time to fix it.
I get Diagnostic code G, I have removed the dash and checked that the harness is plugged in correctly, so i'm guessing the problem is at the sensor.
Any ideas on where the sensor is, or any possible fix's??

The Tuscan/Speed 6 engine has 2 water temp sensors.

One at the front of the engine (BTWN 1 & 2 throttle bodies) - this signals the instruments. The 2nd is between throttles 5 & 6 and signals the ecu.

So, to access both you need to remove airbox - both halves, and the sensors are fairly easily located below the 'plane' of the throttle bodies. They should just unbolt/unscrew once wiring disconnected. Usual sources for replacements Power, Racetech, Racing Green.

Nice one cheers Nick, thinking about it my Fans cut in, so no at least one of the sensors are working.
Why are there 2 temp sensors, is one for Fans and one to the ECU or do they both go to the ECU, if they do im guessing its the connection from the ECU to the Dash where the circuit is broken??

Cheers

One is for the ECU, the other for the dash. The ECU controls the fans. The two systems are completely independent, the only interface being when the ECU throws an error, it comes up on the dash as "EFI Fault". Nothing more, nothing less.

^^^What Dave said.

The ECU/Rad Fan control is the rearmost sensor. Always a good check for continuity to fan motors is to unplug cable to this sensor - both fans should kick in with engine running.
