Hello all,

I have not posted before as this is my first visit. I am currently thinking of buying a 4.2 Cerbie from TMS nr Melton Mowbray. I was hoping to get some feedback about their aftersales services from someone who has had dealings with them.

My next post may see me as the proud owner of a Cerby - although the TT will be missed.

As you might imagine this kind of post is not best suited to ted's site, he would not be able to do this if the bulletin board was used a a forum to say bad things about the dealers(not that I am suggesting anything bad is true of TMS - have never been there ) Join one of the Yahoogroups linked to the TVRCC and ask on there....

Noodles

I have bought my last two cars off TMS and they have been brilliant. I tried almost every dealer in the country when I looked for my Cerbera and they found me a beauty AND gave me an excellent price for my Griffith (unlike a couple of others I could mention) I sold my Griff privately in the end but that got me a better deal for cash I had a new clutch done on the warranty and a new alternator-no arguments.

Since then I have bought my Tamora from them and have been quite impressed by their support with the few niggles I have had. Team Central were good too but dont really sell cars anymore. good luck and welcome to the club!!!

Dans, as any other place in the world this place should be for free speach. If any one of us has just cause and proof of bad practice from anyone including a dealer, the person concerned should be able to speak freely and share this information.
Are you saying that only good things can be said about dealers.

In defence of dans, you have to remember that TMS and other dealers help to sponsor the site. That said you can always say " I had a bad time with....." and email whoever is asking privately. I'm all for free speech, but this site wouldn't exist without sponsors so we have to be careful just how far we take things....or we could lose our favourite place...

Ideally yes.

However there are two reasons why that is not the case.

1) Free speech in whatever form still requires that nothing slanderous/libelous is stated. Companies slagged off on here won't necessarily know about it and won't therefore be able to defend themselves.

I've heard the other side of some of the stories told about dealers here and on some occasions the threads don't tell the whole story and malign the dealer unfairly. Rather than investigate every incident myself I ask people to exercise caution when posting.

2) This site is free to you. Businesses pay for it and businesses get very unhappy if they are slagged off (again, I hear different sides to stories).

It's complicated, therefore I just ask the readers to show some consideration when discussing contentious topics. Not much to ask is it?

Granted, but i think it may be healthy if some of the dealers/servicers realise that there is a good possibility that their actions good or bad can be seen by others.Especially by those people who spend money with them or are about to.

But I shall keep my mouth shut

for now

I take it you are the boss man type person PetrolTed?

Apologies for stirring up a debate due to my ignorance.

Thanks for such an informative site - these forums have greatly helped my decision to buy a Cerbera. It's just nice to get a feel of common problems and the type of people who drive TVR's.

I think I am going to go ahead with the purchase - TMS can have it ready for 2pm this Friday. I will be swapping my Audi TT for this:

Many people make good use of the email facility in people's profiles to share their experiences. You can still share your experiences, all I ask is don't do it in a public forum.

Hi Noodles.

That car looks familiar. I think it used to be Richard Mayo's?

Have fun, you know it makes sense

Has the aforementioned owner of aforementioned green cerbie got nice things to say about it? Would be nice to to hear from the previous owner. Do you know if he is a member of these forums?

Cheers

only joking Ted!! I did try to say this much earlier.... and like I said on the Fernhurst thread, every dealer has it's share of satisfied and unsatisfied customers, that's just a fact of life.

Most of us are now used to the naming and shaming rules and act accordingly. It's not really censorship it's just sensibility.

Cheers
Andy

I bought my Griff 500 from TMS well over two years ago and I got what I thought was a very good part ex deal on my old Rover 220 Turbo Coupe.

I have used them for all servicing so far and numerous warranty claims and never had any cause to complain, they are always very friendly and helpful even with the sometimes very awkward problems.

The only down side (if it is one) is that being a main dealer they charge accordingly, though in my opinion, you do get what you pay for and that is an excellent service.

Cheers,

Simon.

Noodles, if you come to any of the pistonheads events, we'll have to get our cars parked together. I have R73EAN!

Can I recommend that you get Joolz to check the car over before you commit to it? He's very thorough, and what he doesn't know about cerberas isn't worth knowing
