New light weight Zonda is same weight as a Giffith 500. 789bhp, 0-62 in 3secs. (Griff only 1.5 sec slower?)Price £2.2 million. TVR is a bargain and looks better!

Hmm...not really, the Zonda R had a claimed 0-60 in 2.7 and had 50 hp less. This is also lighter, has DRS, 20 millisecond gear change times and 748 BHP per tonne. Hardly in the same league?

...Griffs are still bloody superb though!

Read the EVO post again. They predict it's performance will better the R. Limited production for track use only. At £2.2 million will become a garage 'queen' investment, until the bubble bursts. Hope not for us TVRs.

The bubble doesn't burst on limited edition hypercars, it never has. It's a blue chip investment car, as are Fxx's, MC12's etc. that doesn't mean it's less of an achievement. If any of their other offerings are anything to go by I'm sure it will be truely spectacular.

Who knows what will happen to residuals if they do start making TVRs again.

my performance figures are not far off, for around an 80th of the cost, but i will swap! i dont know whether i would feel a bit of a berk driving that Zonda, and on trackdays you would have a huge target on yer back! smile

Yes Paul. Far far less worries racing your Cerby on track than a £2.2 million jobee. Would turn most drivers to jelly brainers with the rest of the pack chasing, in for the big kill. There will be berks about to buy it. Keep the flag a flying. 'THUNDEROUS' TVR is a coming to join your LS.

I think it would be good for residuals if they restarted. They won't be making our models again but the profile of TVR would be raised and some of the glow of this would reflect on our cars.

The only way I think it could hurt residuals is if the badge was brought back and put on some terrible products. If they do, and go bust again, then it would be unhelpful. If they come back and are successful then its probably all good.

I was speaking to somebody about just this a couple of days ago. My feeling is it will all depend on a new TVR price. If a new TVR comes out for 75k and is popular it may well add perceived value to the current ones. If a new TVR comes out for 35k and is popular who knows.

Looking at other brands though I still think it may help prices; it hasn't harmed Aston Martin.

As a TVR fan, I'd love something as exquisite a the Zonda.

It's a V12 for a start, so it beats the Griffith on Lustpoints before it begins.

It don't beat any Griff or any TVR at £2.2 million. For tha casual motorist the Zonda woild only look like a well put together nice kit car. OOOPS!

Sorry as much as I love my tvrs, that's a load of rubbish. Get to the festival of speed there's usually a zonda R there.

Its nothing like a kit car. I stood behind it last year as they warmed it up in the pits. The throttle response of the v12, the siund of it, the materials used and the way it's put together are phenomenal. It's simply a work of art.

I stood directly behind the exhaust as they warmed it last year, and even though the race fuel was burning my eyes I couldn't move.. Mesmerising

Kit car??!!!! In no way, shape or form are they a kit car, and they certainly can't be compared to an ageing TVR, any TVR. They are stunning, and if you get to see one close up you will then realise what a ridiculous comparison it is!

In a way a zonda is an incredibly well built TVR with the best of the best parts and materials.

I was at the Pagani factory last Tuesday and the Sagaris certainly generated some interest.
