I am considering fitting NOS to the 500, I want to keep this car long term. What are the pros and cons. I wouldn't be using it all the time just on the odd occasion.

I looked into this for my Mundaneo V6 (about 600 quid fitted)

Basically a good well fitted system will be safe. You want someone that knows what the car can take though.. start with smaller jets and work up.

Gas costs a fortune.. I worked out before that to use it for say 10-20 seconds a day would cost me 60+ quid a month (which is what put me off).

Noone will insure it. And I mean no-one. Have a look at the NOS Wizards forum for proof. To a one, they all don't declare it.

There is no problem with legality however except you won't be insured possibly :-)

AFAIK Wizards of Nos is OK with Adrian Flux - not sure they have "approved" the NOS kits yet though.

Corin - have a chat when you come down my way mate.

Thanks everyone, I have spoken with Peninsula in reference to this, they have already fitted a similar system to a Griff. Running costs won't be problem as I only do about 4k a year and wouldn't use the NOS on a daily basis.

Just when I needed to

Schnozz we'll chat more, going to bring the car up next month anyway.

I save my NOS for the track, it's not worth wasting it on the road.

Insurance is a nightmare to obtain...in the end I went through adrian flux.

You need to find someone to fill the bottle up, I will use a 10Lb bottle in a morning of track time.
To refill the bottle will cost about £5 / Lb

Apart from that I would not go for the huge nozzles, mines using 80 bph nozzles. Oh and get the system with a gradual boost, not the full boost from the point of actuation, it's much kinder on the engine.

Oh and one further point....Don't sniff it, it makes you go

Speak to Andy at APM if you are serious about fitting it...He put mine in, and as usual did a superb job.

I wanted to try a NOS kit on my KA first but all the initial insurance enquiries came up in the thousands, eventually footman james decided they could do it for £350. As I now have the chim I abandoned the idea, for the moment anyway. Stuart from the cambridge area has a kit on his griff and he loves it, sorry cannot remember his surname!

cool. it was about 1 1/2 years ago when I looked into it. Then no one would touch it. That, and the cost of refills put me off.
