TVR Typhon website
Discussion
Thought this new website might be of interest to PHers, given that it's the 10th anniversary of the TVR Typhon this year and also the recent, rather superb, news that the TVR brand was back in England and holding hopes of a positive future for the first time in a while. In addition, it is also Le Mans season and these were the Tivs that PW built to get him to Le Mans. Something they achieved (information about the racing is also there).
As the owners of the three Typhons we wanted to put down as much of their history as possible. The website is pretty basic and while we have gone to great lengths to source accurate information from ex Factory workers, the racing drivers and other key people there may well be the odd error in the site so we are very happy to have these highlighted so that we can make amends where appropriate.

Morning.
We've been working on a small website for the Typhons and we've just posted the link up in the General Gassing section:

Good site.
What's the difference between a 'conventinal honeycomb' and a 'laminated honeycomb'?
If I recall, when they began building the prototypes the material was an aluminium honeycomb, what TVR did was additionally laminate this product with CF. There is an image in the 'Construction' section where you can see the raw floor and side sections before they were laminated in CF and then bonded into the chassis and the CF body shell. What's the difference between a 'conventinal honeycomb' and a 'laminated honeycomb'?

I think "conventional honeycomb" is made by bees . But seriously , aluminium honeycomb probably refers to alaminium skins with alaminium honemcomb and so on . The carbon Typhon body that I was working on had honeycomb on all the panels though omly a 3mm gap so pretty hard to spot unless you cut into it.

My understanding is that the construction of the earlier cars, the racing ones from pre 2004 season was slightly different to how they ultimately built the road cars. I recall a phone conversation a while back with one of the composites specialists from the factory who mentioned that there was a chnage as new products became available and also that they toughened up the floor and sides in later cars.Podie said:
Good work.
Was LNT's car a T400 / T440R then? (the grey one)
At the end of the day, they are all ultimately identical. At the time his car left the factory they were calling that model the T440R. But it was really just a T400R but they had to have two models for FIA eligibility. Later the SC option was dropped so in reality the Typhon is no different from the T440R or T400R.Was LNT's car a T400 / T440R then? (the grey one)
It's one of the things we've tried to get across on the site that the badging of the cars really just represent the evolution of the project nomenclature rather than anything more radically different as was the original intention.
