I'm not racing this year, but I am at all the races, so I'm using a blog and my cameras to cover the series.

Pics (not currently brilliant but I'm working on that) and info as it happens on my blog

Vids on tvrmonster channel - as normal, but will feature other cars
Danny winstanleys races. Sagaris V8

I'm a bit confused, the old green 4.5 S6 Sagaris did a 1.43.1 in GT cup and wasn't it heavier and running ballast with smaller tyres and 150bhp down on the new green LS Sagaris,

The lighter LS green Sagaris with big rubber and big Bhp was only 1 sec quicker 1.42.1

?

Well it did a 1:39 in qually and there's more to come
It was also built in a lock up by 4 mates
Which car are you referring to? Mike?
3 secs is quite a lot at that level

Hi,
No the green one, wasn't that the road Sagaris that raced in GT cup with a 4.5 S6 engine?
Its quickest lap on Sat was a 1.42.1 with the LS, it did a 1.43.1 with the 4.5 S6 and was carrying ballast with smaller tyres ?

Hi
Yes, same road chassis car with more power
But lots more weight
Heavier engine box tyres wheels brakes fuel tank etc it (and Tim's yellow Sag) have been built for endurance racing so they can do those times for several hours, and that takes some doing
And 3 seconds is a lot at those speeds
Cheers
Andy

Its 1 second not 3 and I thought the LS engine was lighter than the S6? I was told the green Sagaris is now lighter than when it ran in GT Cup? Can't really compare the yellow car because it isn't a Sagaris more a TVR prototype with a LS and fancy gearbox though I suppose a purist wouldn't consider either of them now to be Sags.

You have to agree the time the Green Sagaris 4.5 S6 did was very impressive considering it was heavier and running smaller tyres.

As Andy said there is allot more to come from the LS Sag, the car was overheating on the day so the ECU was retarding the power and Graig and the team are still ironing out the gremlins!
But agree the SP6 time still looks good smile

Yes and I'm certainly not knocking the great effort by all the teams but if I remember rightly the green 4.5 S6 Sagaris was also very new and basically still a road car that also had gremlins when it raced at Oulton park.
I wonder if they will now fit a paddle gearbox to the green car.

'TVR Prototype' I like the sound of that, best description of the Yellow sag for a while.

We have always wondered what a S6 sag would be like compared to our yellow LS beast.

To be fair to Craig the green car still needs development much as we did and still do. When they have sorted it (which they will) it will be as quick as the yellow one which is 3 sec quicker than the old green sp6. and there is more to come!

Would also have been interesting to see where they would have been now with the 4.5 S6 Sagaris with another year of development and without the GT cup extra ballast weight, bigger rubber and a paddle shift, maybe 3 seconds, unfortunately we will never know frown

That yellow TVR prototype is outrageous, well done, how much does the paddle shift give you over a standard box around Oulton park?

Not too much I wouldn't have thought
Quick change alright, but they're shifting every 600rpm?
Danny's will be far less frequent 1500rpm?

The difference on Sat was Danny's issues. There's some top battles coming, but Tim has the upper hand for the moment

The big difference with the sequential and the paddle shift is that you are always in the right gear for each part of the track, no short shifting or hanging on to a gear on the rev limiter because you cannot take you hand of the steering wheel to change gear. The gear change is all done in 55ms, take your hand off the wheel and change gear in that time!

I'm sure Tim will be along in a bit to put some numbers to it in terms of lap time difference

How smooth are the down changes, does the system match revs? are you left foot braking?

Would it be a suitable system for a road car?
Thanks smile

The system has parameters set that only allow gear changes below certain revs and other restrictions. All this is programmable for each gear.

It has a throttle blipper which revs the engine on down change, I have never driven it so I can't say how smooth the down change is.

We are not left foot braking.

As far as fitting it on a road car, I am sure it would be possible as all the parameters are fully adjustable so it can be set to suit the users.

The system is part of the Syvecs ECU which is superb as it has all these feature as standard, unlike many others. We also have Paul from Zen Performance setting it up for us and he is an ECU wizard!
