Having recently found a marble, ditched the 7 and replaced with Chim, I was enjoying one of the frequent stops at the petrol station and noticed two things:
1. Is it me or how do you stop fuel spitting all over the place without resorting to filling tank at 1 litre per hour ?
2. It says only fill with 98RON !! where the hell do I get that or is it Optimax city - which is the best fuel?

Yea I have to agree, Optimax is the only way to go with fuel!
As far as filling up is concerned, on the very odd occasion where i was forced to fill up anywhere but a Shell station, i found that i used to get fuel spilling out when i was using 'Total' pumps? Apart from that i have no problems.

If you put your nozzle in with the handle hanging over the boot, pointing away from you, then twist it round to point the handle towards you, it will go in deeper and should penetrate the tank enough to stop it spurting out the sides.

To fill up cleanly and without splashing you need to insert the nozzle and twist it so that the handle is pointing to the rear of the car, it'll drop down more into the hole too.
One way to get it to work properly is to fill up from a right hand pump, stretching the hose across the boot, this'll help you "get it in" (
) at the right angle.

I've given up with Optimax as mine runs better with BP Ultimate ....also some suspiscions it my have helped with the damage to my valve seats when the car was rebuilt it was mentioned ...
Car always ran better on Super than Optimax anyway. I also understand that Optimax is nearer 99Ron whereas BP Ultimate is a lot nearer 98Ron .... but that may just be a complete motoring myth as these things often are.

97 RON i believe. Someone on another forum emailed BP about the differences between Ultimate and Optimax and got a very lengthy reply (which i couldn't really be
ed to read 
However, the upshot was that the cleaning properties seemed very similar from independant test results, but i believe it was rated at 97 RON whereas Optimax is 98.
Will dig out the mail from BP if anyone is really interested.

We found through extensive research that a sizeable proportion of the market in our UK-wide sample were very interested in a fuel that would deliver more performance AND less pollution; this is exactly what we are offering with our new advanced fuels.
The RON (Research Octane Numer) for BP Ultimate Unleaded is guaranteed 97. For Performance vehicles it is also helpful to know the MON (Motor Octane Number). This is where the Antiknock quality is tested at full throttle and High engine speed, and part throttle and low&high engine speeds. The MON for Ultimate Unleaded is guaranteed 86, however is typically higher and up to 87.4. Which I believe is the same as Optimax!
Increased octane rating does benefit some vehicles and overall BP Ultimate gives significant benefits relative to unleaded 95. There are other important features of the BP Ultimate formulation that benefit all vehicles, such as its exceptional cleaning performance – twice the cleaning power of normal fuels; deposits are dissolved by the additives and are burned in the engine. Also BP Ultimate burns more efficiently and cleans your engine as you drive to deliver sharper acceleration and improved responsiveness while producing less harmful emissions.
We have tested BP Ultimate and Optimax back to back in a range of performance cars, and saw very similar results for Optimax and BP Ultimate. However, BP Ultimate has been developed to give benefits in all cars, as opposed to just performance cars, where the outstanding cleaning performance and friction reduction properties of BP Ultimate are particularly important.

My Chim never ran any differently on ordinary 95 unleaded and Optimax/Super.
It's even had it's fair share of supermarket 95 (5p a litre off when you spend over £50 in store).
All you Optimax devotees, have you ever tried ordinary 95? A lot of cars run fine on it.
My Cerb hates anything but Optimax, and pinks like crazy on anything else.
