...for 100 miles - inc 20 minutes in standing traffic..


Imagine the horror when I went to check the water this morning in the Chim, only to find the expansion tank filler cap neatly on the 'shoulder' to the information plate under the bonnet.......

Where it has presumably sat since I last checked it, 2 weeks ago, during which I've driven 100 miles, including spending 20 minutes stuck in traffic yesterday afternoon on the Hogs Back to wards Shephard and Flock roundabout, Farnham.....


The expansion tank was of course empty, surprisingly the swirl tank was still full, now that the expansion tank is back up to its usual 1/3 full mark, and cap firmly replaced..., amazingly it seems to have got away unscathed....

Was there any change in the temp it ran at with the cap off? Just curious so we can be aware if (maybe when for the older of us ...) we do it ourselves.

Yes - it seemed to 'behave' normally in terms of water/- I'm very attuned to water temp since a previous issue with a leaking expansion tank.

Will just need to make sure that there are no air pockets lurking in the rad somewhere..
