South West Sports Cars - TVR Experience!

Morning Folks!
Thought I'd share with you all my recent TVR experience courtesy of South West Sports Cars in Taunton.
I have always been a TVR fan from the first moment I saw a Griff in the NEC motorshow when I was 17 many moons ago. Unfortunately I have not been in a position to own one but was a member of the TVR club for 20+yrs.... Even went on an organised club weekend once to Blackpool and toured the old factory.... Peter Wheeler era! I currently own two big V6 Alfas (in my opinion the next best thing to a Tiv!) but I think I will always have a soft spot for all things TVR. Done a track day but never driven a TVR on the road! :-\
So.... To My TVR experience last Saturday! It was a Christmas present from my girlfriend! And is quite unique...!
You get to drive 3 different TVR sports cars during the course of a day driving in and around Exmoor National Park .My 3 last Saturday were a Griff 500...Tamsin V6....and a Tuscan... (in that order) !
You turn up at the owner's house..... Mike.... along with 2 other couples and after a brief introduction of the cars you head off on a set route onto Exmoor via the coastal road which takes in a mix of countryside, stunning sea views, wooded combes, open moorland and sweeping cross country routes.
In all the day provided me with around 4 hours of TVR driving covering just over 100 miles!!!

I have to say it has to be one of the best driving experiences I have had.... Each car being so different from one another. I didn't want the day to end. Even when the Tuscan overheated. Mike came out to us very quickly and I had the bonus of driving one of his other Tivs back... A Tuscan S.... Which has to be one of the wildest cars I have ever driven. My girlfriend said I didn't stop smiling... I was like a kid in a sweetshop!

So if any of you TVR owners want to try a different model or you know someone who loves their cars especially TVRs then I highly recommend you give Mike a ring and book yourself in.... You will not be disappointed!!!

Trade 2 x big alfas for 1 x Chim or other TVR depending on value of Alfa's - job done

(Tuscans are most interesting over about 5000 rpm)

Yeh.... Could do it but one of my Alfas is a daily driver... So the GTV would be the one that would have to go and I'm still a bit short of a decent Tiv.
I'd also worry bout leaving a TVR on the drive exposed to the elements... My GTV sits under a car cover.... Just think a Tiv needs a nice warm garage!!!

Yup.... I most certainly have!
I have been trawling the 2nd hand adverts since arriving back home!

Nice guy - hired a Tuscan from him for a long weekend for my wedding. Bought one a couple of years after =) Once you've had a taste it's only a matter of time now

Think that is what I'll do next... Trouble is which one do you pick! I have a soft spot for the Griff.... But.... The Tuscan and especially the Tuscan S left such a lasting impression on me!
