Front brake pad recommendations

My Chim 450 has come to that time where the brake consumables need replacing. The car is a fast road set-up, and rarely if ever goes near the track - so track use is not a concern. Street use much more important.

I have been running EBC grooved/dimpled discs, and really like them - so will most likely stick with these.

However, I am wondering about peoples suggestions for the front brake pads.

The previous owner had put EBC Greenstuff on - I know people have issues with these pads, but TBH I found them absolutely fine, no problems when cold, but no fade or other problems that I have experienced in day-to-day usage.

However, I would like to know what other people recommend for street use - I have used Mintex on my Rover Tomcat Turbo, and thought they were good, but what else do people recommend for the Chim/Griffs...?

Yellow stuff is working well for me, good for track days too. Dust not too bad.

Do any of the above have issues when cold?

Ideally I want something for the road that combines good anti-fade and bite properties, but without the issues of no braking capability when cold...

Anyone compared the Greenstuff with the Yellowstuff before (from a road perspective)..?

Ferodo DS2500 looks like a track-day focussed pad..?

Is this any good on the road, or a bit compromised..?

I've got grooved Cosworth discs on mine 283mm, I find the Redstuff pads are excellent for track and road, no warm up to speak of and not bad at all for fade on track.
I was using Mintex (standard Ford Cosworth spec) and killing them in one trackday. The EBC pads stop just as well and last much better, however there is plenty of dust from them.

I've used the DS2500 compound front and rear in the Wedge for years, fine on the road with no deficiency from cold, good on the track as it has reasonable resistance to fade, but yes, expensive - for the 4 pot Princess set-up at least. Just been quoted about £145 for a front set.

You could always join the likes of Seb Loeb & Citroen WRC, also M-Sport, and many other world class teams and go with Carbone Lorraine?
Also used by other TVR dudes such as Mike (its all yellow), and the Winstanleys in their Sag race car.

Another vote for DS2500, I've stuck them onto everything that I've owned since someone recommended them to me a few years ago

I've been using green stuff for a while, for fast road and track use. Although great once warmed up, they're terrible cold, and you really need to get a lot of heat into them to get the best out of them, in my opinion.

I've lost count of the number of times I've been told to change them to Ferrodos.

I find them absolutely fine when cold - but then I would be warming the engine up, so not driving in a "spirited manner"...

Ferrodo's are tempting, but there is a lot on the t'interweb about them not being approved for road use, and therefore being a potential factor for insurance comapnies to invalidate claims...

Anyone know anything about this..?

Don't know about Ferodo but have used Mintex M1144 for years, work well cold, brilliant fade resistance and feel.

I have declared their fitment along with other mods to Insurance Co's and been accepted for road use without question both by Classicline and now Mannings. I would have classed the Ferodo DS2500 in a similar class as M1144 ie fast road use/occaisional track day?
