I need to replace the 2 capcitors on my mirror switchpack (Tuscan year 2000).
Is anyone good with electronics and can identify the rating of these 2 surface mounted aluminium capacitors. The markings don't seem to conform with anything I can find in RS.

Look like Panasonic devices to me.

First line is capacitance, 2nd is voltage, 3rd is lot number
So, big cap is 100uF, 6.3V
Smaller cap is 1uF, 50V

I might be wrong!

They are not Panasonic. Does that matter?

I think the chip between the two capacitors is a 12V-5V regulator. I can't make out the part number from your photo but if you're able to post the marking on here checking the spec for that would confirm the capacitor values.

I'm guessing it says something like 2931-M5.0. Might need to be low esr versions if that's the case.

The first link is wrong, it links to 0.1uF 50V cap but it should be 1uF.

Can you measure/confirm the pin spacing on the existing devices ?

I think you need a lower esr capacitor for the 100uF. Although the one you linked to is low I'm not sure it's low enough across its operating temperature range.
To be really sure I'd go for this : http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/aluminium-capacitors... which should be back in stock in a couple of days.
You need to check sizes to make sure they fit.
You could also try Farnell.

I may be wrong, but it looks as if the device to the left of the PIC has been dislodged (U2?).

If it is, you might need to sort that out first.

That looks like a diode and I think it's correct as it is (looks as though there were 2 options for where to connect it but it seems to have the solder still applied to the leg and is in a marked block on the cct bd)

This image isn't of my switch. Mine is missing the capacitors but U2 is the same.

I can't read the markings on the chip between the capacitors so I think I'll risk it. Thanks for the advice Paul.

Success! New capacitors were delivered and I managed to solder them on and everything works!!!
Thanks for the advice guys! If anyone needs capacitors to fix a similar mirror pcb, drop me a line!
