Looking around for the best quote and couldn't see the wood for the trees. Stupid man's wife works for Zurich (not the car policy side) and gets discounts. Yipee I thought!!
Called the wife and gave all the details she would need.
Half hour later wife calls - they will not insure me as I'm not 35
The age restriction keep going up just before my birthday each year

I'm 35 this March coming

Best so far is £971 Sunninghill, unlimited miles, trackday cover and 90 days European cover.
2nd is Privilege without the extras. £990

I remember each time a special birthday came round my brokers always say, oh wait till your next birthday, it'll be cheaper then.....

so 21st birthday...no sir, wait till your 25...
25th birthday...no sir, wait till your 30...
30th birthday...no sir wait till your 35!

Now over that and thankfully rates have stabilised.

Mind, what else can you expect from an insurance company other than lies and a willingness to try to wriggle out of claims...oh, sorry, thats warranty companies

That happened to me except I only got as far as the first one.

"21, sorry you have to be 25."

Then I got

"Sorry you have to be 35"

"35, I'll be decrepid by then!" I replied, no offence to all of you over 35

12 years seems a bit much to wait for a TVR.

Had the same thing when renewing for the Cerbera, I knew it would be more expensive, but I didn't expect almost three times as much as the S, went from £450 with Classic Line (7500 mile limit, Euro cover and track days) to Direct Line (£1300, unlimited mileage and euro cover but no trackdays ) and that was after a day and a half of shopping around loads of companies. I'd hoped that skipping (well limping and wheezing) into my thirties da few days before the policy would have helped, but their annual promise of "next year" was a let down again.

For the first time my wife would have made the policy more expensive, in previous years her on as named driver saved a few hindred quid, this year she'd have costed £300! She'd a few years older than me, so all we can figure is her minor accident and 2002 is the problem. So no TVR driving for her then

I tried elephant, Tescos and Manning and none of them could match classic line, in fact classic line beat the best by £200 bringing my insurance on the chim down to £355, I thought that was a bargain!

Classic Line were the same for me last year, best quite of the S was around £800, but they'd do a 7500 limited mile policy for £450

Shame they no longer do policies that suit future classics
