CD players skip in TVR's much?
Discussion
I just installed a Pioneer DEH-P77MP:
and on the way home its been skipping. Not all the time, but more than Im happy with. I'll take the car out and test some more later.
What are the experiences of other TVR owners and their CD players skipping? I know the V8S is a bumpy ride at times, Im now worried about my purchase.

My CD changer coped well, although after a month or so the head would cleaning, as it was a 12 disc changer the previous owner just left a cleaning disc in slot 1.
Previous Pioneer unit didn't skip either, so perhaps you have a duff unit?
I have a kenwood multi-cd player in the boot, but over the years it has started to skip more and more. I went into a ICE shop and asked. The answer I got is "that over time the Lasers start to wear out". ????
So I bought myself a Creative Labs 60gb MP3 player and a small FM transmitter. No wires, 3000+ songs (so far - 16000 max), FM clarity, but most of all no skipping. Plus the random feature is great for listening to all your old music you can't be bothered to dig out.

I've the same Pioneer model in my S and never had a skip. The whole front panel stops responding occasionally, but I put that down to the air vent slipping out of place and blowing cold damp air directly in to the back of the unit
Are you playing standard CD's or MP3? I normally use MP3's so perhaps that is a factor?

Got a cheap Halfrauds JVC <£100 in my V8S...but mega 120W pioneer speakers on the rear bulkhead. Sound is good, and I've never had any skip problems.
Have had a button 'freeze' (or should it be 'boil'?)when I've had the roof off in v. hot sun, and the transmission has obviously been hot too. Once the unit cooled down all functionality was restored.
