HELP!!! loctite in lock

Friend asked me to ask you lot if you could help him out.Trick or treaters have put loctite in his lock on his landrover and he can`t get in.

Try hitting their heads against the door.
It probably won't release the lock but it will cheer him up.

I picked up a steering wheel off ebay a while ago. It was still attached to its boss which struck me as strange at the time. Then I realised the screws to the boss were superglued in. A friend of mine was able to fix it by heating up the screws and they came out right away. Perhaps he could try heating the key before trying the lock.

Would the key not have to be really rather hot to do that, thus possibly melting any grease/lubricant in the barrel and maiming the lock long term, also, is there not a chance that the key will cool and end up locked in the barrel as well?

Homebase, etc. sell Superglue remover. It's a solvent that'll (slowly!) "melt" the superglue to the point where you can pick it out with a cocktail stick, etc. Have used it on carpet, and it was fine in terms of bleaching, etc. so I imagine it'd be fine on a lock.

It'll take bl**dy ages to do mind... will probably need half a dozen applications, being left overnight after each.

Geeze... wish I'd tried that before spending a whole weekend trying to get it out of the carpet with the glue remover. Was visiting the house-proud parents at the time, and had to keep coming up with excuses for putting stuff over a certain patch of the carpet for 3 days...

I've also heard that BBQ lighter fluid is pretty good at breaking superglue down.

That's what they use at hospitals I've been told but please, don't try it while smerkin a fag.

Nail varnish remover will dissolve superglue but be careful it may do the paint too!

Plain old thinners?? Just don't drop any on the paintwork! Use a pipette or something, it's sure to at least start to shift it....

good old neat Fairy liquid breaks the glue down in locks and you dont have to be worrying about getting thinners or lighter fluid down your door !

Try it you might like it . it does work honestly !
