Rear plastic screen - covered on insurance?
Discussion
I've got bit of damage on my Chimera's rear screen, not a lot but enough for water to get in via a small hole leading from small tears that will only get bigger. I'm guessing the whole screen needs replacing and stitched back into the hood. I've stuck a bit of duck tape over it in the meantime
I was just going to add this to the list of things to be done, but a friend mentioned that this should be covered by my insurance with only the windscreen excess payable and no loss of no claims etc. I asked my insurer who put me onto their glass contractor (autoglass), neither of which could give me a proper answer on whether this is covered under windscreen or not.
So has anyone had their rear screen replaced under the windscreen policy and if so how did you get it done?
I'm a bit nervous letting just anyone loose on my car, I'm thinking it might be better just to pay the full amount and get it done where I like? Anyone had this done recently and if so who by and for how much?
Thanks

I have, phoned insurance company and explained the situation and they agreed it was covered under 'glass'. They also agreed to get it done at a local specialist. Got another small tear 8 years on so hoping the same still applies.
I suppose it does depend on the insurer though - guessing mine at the time was Mannings.

Thanks, well I am with a classic specialist broker so you would think they would know the answer, but it seems not. I would have thought it was a common enough question to give a straight yes or no. Hmmm. Maybe worth another few phone calls yet.I suppose it does depend on the insurer though - guessing mine at the time was Mannings.
