2 pin/3 pin diagnostic data lead

I've just bought a 3 pin data lead from clever Trevor, downloaded the software and gone to connect the two to discover my early 2000 tuscan has a two pin plug. I assume I am looking at the right one that branches out from the large plug that goes in the ECU as I have had a good poke around and I can't find any others disconnected.
Is it possible to either adapt my lead to fit a two pin one, make a lead from the ecu that has a three pin connector or any other suggestions? I was under the impression that all Tuscans had the three pin one. I have read about opening the ecu and plugging a serial plug straight in but really want to avoid this if possible.

I don't think they sell a two pin one, or at least I haven't seen it advertised. Now you mention it I will have a scout around.

I'm sure my '00 Tuscan has both a 2 pin lead and a 3 pin one, so double check you haven't got another lead tucked away somewhere above the fuse box.

If you're car has the single connector alloy ecu then the connector will be inside the ecu front cover
The three pin lead will not work, you probably don't have the three pin connector we used to add to the loom

Yes it is a blue alloy box with a single large multi plug on the right as you look in the footwell. Does this mean I need to take the ecu out and take the cover off every time I want to plug it in? Can I solder in a lead with a three pin plug on it to save having to do this each time?

Yes you have to remove ecu, the wiring for the external lead connects into
Empty ports in the main ecu plug, so you can't just solder into existing loom wires. Or you could just leave
The front cover off the ecu, I have the wiring diagram but not sure if I have the ecu connectors in stock

It was a factory upgrade

If I still have the ecu pins the loom can be made

Ignore the two pin plug only the three pin is for the ecu diagnostics

Could you please check when you get the chance if you have the ecu pins to be able to do this? It would be much appreciated and it looks like there would be a queue for them!

Ah yes sorry I have just re read your message. Not a problem. I have read page after page on this topic on this sight and everyone seems to have different ideas on looms, plugs, software etc etc to fix this. It's looking like I need to make up a 9 pin serial to 9 pin serial, pull the ecu apart and plug inside just to do this.

No you did not you purchased a TVR , they are all prototypes and depending on how much drink the fitter had the night before depends on which parts box they went and got the bits from
