Can Anyone ID this V8?
Discussion
My first post in the TVR section:
I am trying to ID a recently acquired Rover V8 engine.
Rumour has it that this motor is from a TVR, however I am unable to verify this as it is now fitted with a four barrel carb and conventional ignition.
The engine number situated near the dipstick begins 47A 07996B, I can't see the CR stamping and the only markings I can make out at the front left of the block behind the PAS pump are 470 and 28N, the left head is marked 37 00.
Googling reveals only that the engine number is similar to that of a Morgan 3.9, I would really like to discover more about this engine without stripping it, if possible.

I'm not sure if pictures will help as it currently resides in a Bowler style Land Rover off road racer chassis.
The fuelling is by a 4 barrel Weber and the ignition by conventional distributor, exhaust manifolds are custom tubular, the whole lot covered in a thick layer of solid mud.
When I take pictures what areas should I highlight?

A phone call to any land rover dealer should reveal all. Looking at the Rimmers site suggests it's either a tvr or Morgan but the numbers do not appear to follow the protocol. I have Des Hammils "how to power tune rover v8 engines" which contains a wealth of info if your stuck but would need pictures of heads etc. will keep reading and get back to you

Sure, that there is nothing missing in the number.
Something like 47A40...
If there is, it will be a TVR Chimaera unit (4.0). If not, then it is a 3.9 from a Morgan +8.
I cannot see another possibility.
