Just want to say thanks to Fernhurst TVR.
On the way back from a rather damp Sunday Service at Goodwood yesterday my dad and I decided to stop at Fernhurst TVR, being a Sunday we expected it to be closed and for us only to be able to have a quick peek through the windows. To our surprise though it was open and even though we were just having a look (trying to convince my dad to buy one) we were welcomed with a friendly face, a cup of coffee and fantastic tour of the showroom and workshop.
Your hospitality was not expected but most welcome and I'm sure we will be returning as customers.
Thanks
Lee & Frank

Was yours the blue Cerb outside ? we nearly stopped on the way back but we were in a convoy headed for Hindhead tunnel. Would have been nice to pop in with my Chimaera in, that's where it was sold as a brand new car & I don't think it's been back since. I did the very same thing, Good guys and they seem to have a genuine love for all things TVR On the way back from a rather damp Sunday Service at Goodwood yesterday my dad and I decided to stop at Fernhurst TVR, being a Sunday we expected it to be closed and for us only to be able to have a quick peek through the windows. Me and some mates got a nice little tour then I had some revealing discussion about TVR reliability and the pros & cons of the different models.
Interestingly it seemed pretty clear to me they were focusing their stock on Chimaera & Griffiths.
And very high standard ones at that.
My guess is they get a lot less come backs on the simpler yet more robust RV8 cars over the more demanding high maintenance Cerberas & T cars.
Well that's my theory, whatever the reason their stock is definitely very very Chim & Griff top heavy.
When I was looking for my project they contacted me to say they had a car that might suit. Very pleasant manner, no hard sales and opened up with the fact the car had accident damage that had been covered up. So, despite declining the car, they phoned some weeks late to see how I was getting on.
Just a pity there are not more like them. Recommended on honesty alone.

I was drooling over the 'last ever Griffith made" 100/100 500se and the purple SE next to it also seriously nice!
I do agree though that the stock was mostly chims / griffs. I was hoping to see something classic like a Grantura or a Vixen. If I was to add a stablemate for the Cerbera it would be with a classic.

Hi Gary
Yes definitely. I am off to Thailand for 3 weeks in a few days for christmas and new years but once I'm back it would be good to meet up if we are lucky with the weather in January.
Having owned a T car a while back it would be interesting to see hear how the Griffith compliments the Cerbera as Id be more likely to go down that route than back to a more modern TVR. Although randomly I have a huge soft spot for a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, I think they are beautiful, I would love an original 1950's one in black with a wooden roof rack. I must be getting old!

Yes it would be good to catch up, I,am off on cruise on 27th round the Canaries only for a week though, and T350 is going into the body shop for some work so still have the Griff which is a very good example with loads of upgrades, ACT Triple Plenium, Wilwood brake upgrade, AST shocks, lowered and set up by racing green, full hide, custom dash, and its great in the summer with the roof off, I have a surrey roof which folds flat and so much easier than the hard top one. the Cerb has so much done it I have forgot most of it, needs a re-trim though, and a completely different animal to the Cerb love them both for different reasons, Funny I,am old ish and love the early british sports cars must because I could not afford one when I was young

Those guys have a lot to answer for!
In 1986 I was en route to Chichester with the MemSahib and stopped to look at the TVRs - we had a Capri 2.8 and no spare cash. "Have a test drive" they said, "we have no money and are not about to buy" we said. "But you will one day" they said. I let the MemSahib drive ( it was a white 350 convertible with red leather)After 400 yards she said "I want one!"
Job Done - found a way and bought a 350i in 1987, then an SX, then a 3000m, 4 Griffs, 2 Cerbs and I'm on a Sagaris now
They have a lot to answer for at Fernhurst!!

Bought a 450 Chimaera from Fernhurst's September 2009. Great selling technique by Simon and Drew. "Now tell me sir have you ever driven a TVR? Err no. Would you like to take this one out for a little drive? Err yes but my wife is with me! That's ok! No she won't want to sit in the showroom whilst I play like a kid down the roads of Sussex. That's ok both of you go, we trust you - just go and have fun and take as long as you like - but we do close at 5pm." Comes back an hour later with that stupid TVR grin and eyes all misty - gets credit card out and deposit paid!! Great warranty that they undertake - no insurance companies involved

They tend not to get many early cars and leave that to the more specialist sellers in early TVRs I did buy my 3000s there but that was there on consignment not there stock they where very good and a great encouragement.I do agree though that the stock was mostly chims / griffs. I was hoping to see something classic like a Grantura or a Vixen. If I was to add a stablemate for the Cerbera it would be with a classic.
I always pop in on my way past and say hi and have not seen a pre 80s car there since.
They got rid of there older parts and bits that they had had for years for the older cars most ended up in a skip when others who where offered them said no thanks.
They did let me have a rummage through there stores to see if I could recognise if anything was left that was of use but with my limited knowledge I did not find anything worth while.
Shame
Great Guys

That was up for sale earlier this year for £70kish at Fernies. Presumably it hasn't sold yet?
Not as yet.Not sure they are really all that keen to sell it frankly.
Along the lines of "an offer they couldn't refuse" would be the likely price.
Can't say I blame them for that, it's a piece of TVR history, and they have it, and we talk about it and therefore we are talking about them.
I agree on the 500SE #100 - I don't think Graham ever really wants to sell it, and as you say, it's a perfect trophy for them and good marketing. It's also in the best colour and has the best wheels...I'm not biased, of course....
I have been dealing with them over the last 3 years now and have nothing but great experiences with the whole team - Drew (now departed), Simon, Nick and Graham
My first memory was meeting Drew when he asked "...but have you driven one yet", and like others have already said my response of NO prompted the "well, lets take the 4 litre Chimaera out, you can see what you think", and that was the decision made, had to be the Griff 500. My second memory is going there to buy (and pick-up) the 16inch OZ alloys...and walking out having flipped the '98 Griff for another low mile '00 Griff 500. They do get a great selection and they are always well prepared.
TVR. They get under your skin. I keep looking for a perfect Cerbera now, just to add another to the collection...

I bought a lovely Chimaera from them last year, it wasn't cheap but it was the right colour combo and general condition for me.
In the interests of balance, yes they are nice guys to deal with and have lovely premises but are they better / worse than anyone else? I'm not so sure....
My car was supposed to be delivered to me, at my explicit request, having undergone a 'chassis prep' with particular attention to be paid to the corners.
'Chassis prep' my @rse..... IMHO they paid lip-service to this......Once i had it home and had a really good poke about underneath the ammount of crap i dug out from each corner was alarming. The car also had a 'fsh' yet had a siezed rear brake caliper.
All easily rectified by me but a time consuming avoidable annoyance all the same.
Would i use them again? yes but I wouldn't be complacent or wooed by the shiny premises and sales pitch.

I bought my Cerb brand new from there, it had tomgomback to the factory for a recall so they leant me a new Griff 500 at the time so I could go to a wedding, they also leant me another Griff when I had some work done on it.
I bought my E30 M3 from them too,
Nothing but excellent, honest and friendly service.
