Driving Gloves
Discussion
Come on now guys! Don't take the p
s so. I have a soft spot for driving gloves (as does Jonathan Ross, or so he says), and am frequently ridiculed for it.
Not for the fireproof Simpson racewear jobs that I wear on the track, but for my rather fetching string-back Stirling Moss type things that I occasionally wear when driving on the road. (Well if they're good enough for racing legends in the 1950's ...)
I got mine from the historic kit section (they call it Autostorica or something IIRC) of Grand Prix racewear.
Thing is, whether it's cold (and you must still have the roof down of course)the, or if it's hot and with the heat-soak from the engine (and the adrenaline) is getting your palms sweaty, the benefits are obvious. Well to me they are anyway.

This crops up frequently here, and as usual the tin-top brigade take the piss!
There's nothing more pleasant at this time of the year to get the roof off and go for a blast in the winter sun
I went for a blast yesterday morning and I'll tell you now, I wore me gloves to keep me hands warm!

goto "Motoring Clothing"
choose "Driving Gloves"
do not pull out your guns - I use gloves for the same reasons that Digga just described (with the roof nicely stored in the boot, obviously)...
cheers, ozren
PS I found the “Woodcote” model good value for money, just in case yo want to order

simpo two said:Or buy a golf glove, I don't know if it's a left or a right 'cos I don't play (hence I've got a Griff not a Chimp
If it's a Griffith, you can save money. One hot-air vent keeps your left hand warm, but there's no vent for your right hand. Hence, find someone with a LHD Griff, by a pair of gloves between you and share the cost.
) but I know you only get one in a pair. Strange thing golf
Rich...Yeah, golf gloves ... thin leather, tight fit. You buy them separately, but they come in left and right (master of stating the bleeding obvious). I have a left one already so for the price of one glove I get a pair!!
Anyone tried them for driving? The stringbacks look a bit 1950s MG to me.
