Actually TVRs have some history in this:-
1971 - An M Series car was sent to the Motor Industry Research Association in 1971 for crash testing, and it was the only vehicle that remained steerable after a 30 mph (48 km/h) front-end collision with a concrete wall
1973 - 11 May A RUC officer, John Kirkpatrick, was seriously injured by a car bomb which detonated as he attempted to start his TVR 1600M outside of 79 Eglantine Avenue in Belfast. He survived, would have probably died if he had been in a 'normal' car
