Guys
Having put a new engine in my car last year I have a full 500 lump including induction etc up the garage. I intend keeping everything in case I get a desire to go back to originality but what is the best way to store it? Its done 50k so if it is going back in at any point it will be stripped, inspected and rebuilt. So am I as well stripping it all down, greasing and storing in bits or just pour oil in the cylinders and turn it over periodically? Its not in the way so I would prefer to leave it but obviously don't want it deteriorating.
Interested in your opinions.
Cheers
Ian

I would pour a bit of engine oil in each plug hole, and put the plugs back finger tight, then with a plant mist sprayer, spray a light oil under the rocker covers and over the outside of the engine.... Then cover the whole lot in diesel soaked rags...smile

You wont get better than this wink alternatively do as Quinny says and wrap the motor in bin liners & throw some silica gel sachets in too wink

Ive tried loads of different anti moisture sprays on the outside of the engine, and the best by far is "double T". It has a high wax content, so it does not evaporate into thin air like more famous brands and it cleans off easily when you want with engine degreaser. My engine is now 21 years old, and the all the zinc plating is much as new.

Run a dehumidifier in the garage to prevent moisture, and therefore corrosion.
