Quinton Hazell brake discs.is this a problem?
Discussion
I got some QH discs for the back of the Griff and was goimg to fit them this weekend... But on picking the first one up I could not see any balancing marks on it so started to look further.. They are quite heavy discs so I would have expectec them to be balanced... but then I noticed the width of the disc each side.
as shown in the pic, one side is 5mm and the other side 7mm.. turn the disc 180 deg and they both measure about 6mm?
I'm sure this won't help with heat and expansion under heavy loads... will it expand more on the 7mm bit than the 5mm... basicaly giving a judder?

I'll call them Monday and see what they say... anyone else seen this sorth of thing??

Nope, return em, brakes are not something to compromise, if they are not properly cast and machined there must be a reason, probably best not to find out when using them on the car.
This, its a high performance sports car, if it were mine I would like it to stop when needed.well they are looking into it but the break person isn't in until Tuesday... They did mention going into admin last year, but say they are supported by the old manufacturers... and have requested more pic's / details of packing / bar codes etc.. so sounds like they are at least interested?
will see what tomorrow brings

looks okay from the other side when rotated 180 deg.. maybe they only looked at it in one place as this sort of thing never happens... (obviously always the right place)
My mate works for a well known brake and vac pump company.. and they have just started dealing with a supplier in China (against my advice not to!)... And some of the stories he's now telling me on our Friday night's out is just as predicted ....
Like 'but if you measure it here, it’s okay'
and 'it will still work.. it is no problem'
and 'it was in tolerance when we sent it'
and 'we know it's not to drawing so can we change the drawing'
and 'the control limit is too tight so we don't use it'
and 'these are not like the samples but we are now in production'
and 'it should last until out of warrenty'
and 'our supplier was expensive so we found a better one'
and 'we can't keep up because we scrap too many parts'

etc etc... the list goes on... our lives in their hands
