I need to get my Estoril wheels refurbed and I'm debating if I should get them painted standard silver of more of an anthracite colour?

If anybody has any photos of sprayed Estorils (or Imolas), I'd love to see them.

Thanks.

If you're taking them to a wheel specialist (which IMHO is the best route) they will in fact powder-coat them and then apply a clear powder-coat over the top.

They should also be able to dress the wheel and remove any (light) imperfections as well as checking for trueness and roundness.

They are being dipped and then powder coated. A 'proper' refurb rather than a mobile painter.

Is this what you are after, this is an old picture, wrong size tyres on the front and had a headlight upgrade since the photo, but should give you an idea.

Or this one is from last year.

Edited said they are powder coated anthracite.

Cheers

Thanks Mr Plow and pac1uk.

Thanks

Karl.

I bought some second hand ones which came in a very dark colour I had them refurbished and changed the colour to a darker silver but a bit closer to the original. The colour I think was a Honda colour on the invoice it says Metallic Gunmetal.

Here are some photo's

This was my Griff on the Imolas it had when I bought it.

And these are the wheels on my old S2 that I had refurbished in Smoked Chrome. Obviously not Estorils but might help with the colour choice.

When I took mine in to be done they had samples of most of the colours on wheels on the wall so you could get an idea of the choice, I think that might be the best bet. I used BJV engineering near Hemel Hempstead http://www.wheelrefurbishing.com/ and I would definitely recommend them, they did a great job on my wheels and they still look great 2 years on.

I wanted shadow chrome but the wheel refurbished (that has excellent reviews locally) said that they can't shadow chrome the centre covers on the Estorils so I've shelved that idea.

TVR Beaver was sourcing aluminium centres for the Estorils (bought a set myself), if they can't shadow chrome the originals because they're plastic then these would may solve the problem smile

Chilli.
Edited to put 'may solve'

p.s. sgrimshaw I love those gold wheels, really go well with the body colour

Just looking over my posts over the past couple of months and to close this thread this is the colour I went with (just in case other people are interested in the future).

The colour is Himalayas Grey and is a Mercedes Colour.

Thanks to all those who posted photos to help me make up my mind.

Don't have any photos but can thoroughly recommend Lepsons for doing the work.

It's probably just me but I think the Imola's really suit the Griff. It's the first time I have seen them on one.

Nope, I like it too, but it is rare to see as you say.
