BTR Diff Diffinitive answer on exactly how much oil to put !

Hi guys could someone give me the correct amount of oil to put in my BTR diff.

The Chimaera handbook says 2 litres.

When i did a search on Pistonheads,the answers were all over the place, everyone has a different opinion!

Some say 1.5 ltrs, some say 1.6, others say fill to the filler level, as per the gearbox method!

I have just had my diff refurbed by John Reid, so i rang him today and he says 2 ltrs.

I am obviously going to go with his advice, but a bit more clarity on this would be beneficial for everyone.

It has a fill plug

Fill it till it comes out the plug

If it's on the bench, set it level and fill it same way

It'll take 1.7 litres or thereabouts, based on me having about 300ml left in a 1 ltr bottle on the bench

Got to be to the fill plug as above. The only way to get more in past the fill plug would be to turn the diff on its side. Cant be taking it out and tipping it on its side every time you change the oil.
