My Chimaera insurer and other breakdown companies will not in the main cover vehicles over 17 years - a new problem when attending Le Mans this year along with a friends Elise mk 1 also joining the trip now 17 years old.

Question is as there are plenty of pre 90's cars on this forum who are you using for single trips to cover potential breakdown in Europe/France at a reasonable cost?

Vehicles at this age seem to be stuck in no mans land 20+ years for classics and <17 years none classics!

I'm in the same situation and am going with a joint ADAC policy and cancelling the wife's single AA policy.

I've always used ALPS. AUTO LEGAL PROTECTION SERVICES. I think they do classic car cover in Europe, so 17 years won't be an issue.

There's been several posts on here asking the same or similar Q's.

I'm with ADAC now, since my complimentary cover with my bank a/c will not cover vehicles >10 years old, and my Tuscan has just had her 10th birthday!!

Do a search. I went with ADAC because of very positive comments on here. As I've mentioned, ADAC appear to be a motoring organisation, rather than part of an insurance conglomerate and seems to be run for the benefit of its members rather than the shareholders.
