A Garage to do a waxoyl.......

Halfrauds sell pump up dispensors, all you need is a trolley jack and some axles stands
Failing that bring it round to me, i will get my trolley jack and axle stands out and you can stand next to the car shoving £20 pounds notes into my wifes hand for half an hour whilst i do it for you

...and a drive way with sufficient stability to use an axle stand.
I use 4 axles stands myself - I find it difficult to get the car to balance on just the one and it can be very disconcerting when the car falls on your head
I like the way you cut out the middle man!Trouble is, I have a deep gravel drive..so there is a safety issue with raising the car and crawling underneath it. Also, I wouldn't want spillage getting onto the drive.
However, I might be able to use the ramps at a local RAF station...
Those that have done this themselves...any tips? What sort of preparation needs to be done? Is it just a case of plastering the underside using a spray or should you aim to get access to the inside of the chassis (are there holes for this?)

Just give it a good clean first and then cover everything you can see and most things that you cant

It's a nightmare. You've to clean the chassis properly or you might as well not bother. This is best done carefully with a pressure washer and finishing off by hand. Then you'll think "oh I've done this much, might as well remove the loose coating/rust". Then you think "Sh*te, s'pose I'd better paint that first - proper job etc etc". 6 weeks later you get round to actually waxoyling, whilst lying on your back, with waxoyl dripping in your face and the trigger on the Halfords dispenser locking on - that's in between running upstairs avoiding the wife to dunk the waxoyl tin in the bath for 40 mins to loosen it up. Worth it when you finish though...
Given the hassle and effort invloved in doing it thoroughly and properly I just don't see how anyone can do it in a couple of hours for £100. But you pays your money...
No holes in the chassis - you could drill your own, but if the water can't get in, do you need to?
Back to the original question - cannot any independant (non-TVR) garage carry out a waxoyl? It doesn't strike me that you'd need any particular TVR specialist knowledge to carry this out. Has anyone paid for a Waxoyl in Leicester/E Mids area? Are there any advantages to going to TMS etc?

This garage is where I take my car's for MoT. I could speak to the guy that would be doing the work to see whether he could do it as a foreigner using your stuff

Thanks! I'm going to be getting the car up on the stands tomorrow anyway because I need to do an inspection and change the headlights (off come the wheels! 
) Are they pretty flexible at that garage for doing work on TVRs that doesn't really need to be done by a specialist? (minor maintenance stuff?) What other work have you entrusted to them?

They've only done MoT's, paintwork and basic stuff for me. They specialise in Morris Minor restoration. I've known them for 20+ years. For more complicated work I'd recommend Simon Skeggs at John Skeggs near Fosse Park. He's a Jag specialist but cares about his work.
