........ the Red Rose Tuscan thats not a Red Rose?
The Tuscan is having an engine rebuild and I asked them to check that it was a Red Rose as I was told it was when I bought it. It turns out that it isnt!!!!
The factory have said that they will upgrade it to a Tuscan S engine and the dealer has agreed to upgrade the brakes.
My wife kicked up over it and was told by the dealer that "it's only a car", he doesnt seem to see that it is a problem that we have owned the car for 7 months thinking that it is a Red Rose and it's not.
This has come on top of the fact that she also had to fight the warranty company last week to get them to pay out on the rebuild.
Are we making a fuss over nothing?

Jeez, you bought from a main dealer? I know naming and shaming is out of the question, but that's terrible! You'd think they would know the difference between the two specs 
Still, at least this way you get a top of the line engine and brand new brakes (who is paying for the 'S' spec engine?)

We have posted on here before and asked how we could tell that it is a Red Rose as it wasnt on the log book etc. We looked for it on the car and rang the dealer and was told that it could be anywhere even covered in carpet!

However a TVR factory check (around £35) wlll reveal all, well worth the money on a newer car IMO.

He says that he is sorting it by upgrading the brakes. But he just cant seem to see it from our point of view.I dont for one minute think that he knew that it wasnt a RR when he sold it to us but that is beside the point.I personally feel cheated. Does that make sense? He made me feel like I was some kind of neurotic woman who was making a fuss about nothing.( No sexist comments please !!)

You have every right to feel cheated - knowingly or not on the dealer's part - many people pay large amount of money to have this conversion done and it has significant value to you and when you come to sell the car on.
I'm astounded that a main dealer would take this attitude. It's their mistake, they need to take responsibility not just for having it put right but also for the inconvenience and annoyance - next service half price?

My thoughts exactly.
The RR spec covers more than just engine and brakes though doesn't it? Isn't the gearbox tweaked too and stuff.
If it was me, I'd be listing all the differences, major and minor, slapping them on his desk and saying 'Go sort'.
Also, if you'd insured it as a RR and God forbid had to make a claim, I wonder if the insurers would pay up if it came to light?

Yep. After checking the engine the factory checked the chassis file which confirmed that there was no Red Rose conversion.
Y6 Bal - really sad to hear that you have had engine trouble ... hope they get it sorted out quick so you won't be without it for too long.
Please don't name & shame .. it might affect future actions you might wish to take (and Ted don't like it !)..
They have effectively miss sold a car - Red Rose = higher value !
