He's got a point imho. I've a 1982 wedge and a mk1 TT roadster. The TVR is far superior, sounds better, feels better and looks better. The TT is in tiptop condition but all the electronic gizmos have taken the fun and feeling from driving it ( same as motor probably). So yes, I think the TVR is a better drivers car.

Really?If I felt there was a good chance it was the car for me I wouldn't let a little comment like that put me off, whether I found it amusing or not.

Interesting. Not normally a great idea to have an opinionated car ad (!) but in this case I suppose it could weed out a few people who don't just don't get TVRs.
Personally I wouldn't advertise a TVR anywhere apart from a club site or pistonheads. I don't think I could bear trying to explain a TVR to someone who hasn't done their homework.

Saw a 54 reg DB9, metallic grey, dark brown leather with walnut interior, late 30s slim blonde lady getting out of the driver's seat, at Waitrose yesterday.
She smiled at me as i got out of my battered Merc ML, as we had both been naughty and taken a shortcut through a (Waitrose) no entry sign.

It’s kind of funny, but also stupid, really, it’s not like a Cerbera is not driveable and you do not need to be supper human to drive one…
When I bought my first Chimaera, a 450 over 5 years about, I checked the car and before we went for a test drive, the guy went “what sports car do you have” and I went “I do not have a sport car”, he went “what car do you have” and I went “I do not have a car, I have not had one for 7 years”…. The guy’s face dropped when he heard my answer (kind of “what, the guy has not had a car for 7 years and he wants to buy a 4.5L V8…?????”)
Anyway, I bought his car, and even drove it back from Bristol to London under massive rain … Sold it after 9 months and bought a Chimaera 500, I have tracked it 4 times and so far I have not died or smashed up the car (did scare myself a few times, but who has not in a TVR…?).
The reason I did not have a car for 7 years: lived in London (still do) and did not really have a requirement for a car, I had a motorbike and I had friends and girlfriend with cars… The tweaked KTM 640 super moto I had at the time was pretty as hairy as a Chimaera anyway…
Is the guy selling the Cerbera as he has lost his balls…? What quicker car is he looking to get? As far as I am aware, there are not many, unless he spends huge bucks….?

Now I'd worked with these guys before, except for the 'new guy', who none of us had worked with before... So, the newbie is actually a really nice genuine guy, he owns quite a few cars, some quick, some classic (including a Fezza Mondial).. Anyway he suddenly stumps up with (offering advise based on experience) 'don't buy a TVR, they're bloody dangerous'.. He wasn't aware their was a TVR owner there (me), or that two of the other guys were about to become TVR owners... (Harley Pilot-now has a 4.2 Cerb, and SwissRoll, now has a Tuscan S).
So, somewhat nonchalantly I asked 'really? why do you think they're dangerous?' Turns out a year or so before he'd bought a Cerb, and had spun it in spectacular fashion
This had frightened the crap out of him and he'd subsequently sold it... His face was a picture when I explained that I owned a TVR, and that perhaps the car's handling and performance might have been a couple of levels above his driving abilities 
It must be said, he took this rather well and saw the funny side of it...
So, I'm just wondering if the seller referred to in the OP might be just a bit like the lad I met last year....

His wife told him to get rid as it was a waste of money. he advertised it for two weeks and didn't get a sniff, at which point he said no-one wanted it, selling it would just lose money and he should hold onto it until its value went up. She went for it and he kept his 911. Probably under orders from the missus The important point is that he advertised it in knitting weekly...............
