The Griff meets Silverstone
Discussion
Yesterday, I did an Advanced Performance Driving Course at Silverstone. In the morning we did car control in a Caterham and a front wheel drive Audi (on a cradle), which was very difficult to control when they started skidding.
After that we got one to one tuition in a Lotus Elise, to get to know the course.
The best bit was when I got to take the Griff on the full Grand Prix circuit for the whole afternoon. On the first session I was going good guns and quite surprised myself, as I was overtaking and going pretty fast.
The second session was going pretty good as well until... disaster, I lost it after the Hanger Straight, around stowe (mind the track was very greasy). I must have looked like a spinning top as I must have done at least 4 complete 360's, just stopping before hitting the tyre wall.
I must have lost my bottle then as the cars that I has previously been overtaking were now passing me.
The Griff performed faultlessly, oil pressure stayed very good all afternoon as did the water temp.
There was 3 or 4 chimps and a Tuscan there also, I don't know if they belong to anybody on here.
I can't wait to do something similar, what a fantastic day. Trouble is I keep thinking about Taraka upgrades and Nitrons.... how big is my bank balance?
Grouch.
