I have had my car now for six months, after 3 and a half months it went back to the dealers for a head rebuild (speed six followers) got it back after 8 weeks. Two weeks later it went back for some electrical and oil pressure problems. Picked the car up this morning drove about 150 miles, got home went to park it up and the clutch pedal went straight to the floor and left a puddle of fluid under the car.
I am now considering selling it and buying a Vauxhall.

The car was for sitting in the showroom for a very long time before I brought it.

Well they say bad luck comes in threes.....
Should not cost too much to replace the seals though, (This can happen on any car), then hopefully that will be the last of your troubles for a while....

, I think that if that happened to me, I would seriously consider a VX220T.
However, everyone I have spoke to have said these cars need to be driven very regulary, if it hasn't, or you have have just bought it and suspect it's been laid up for an unspecified amount of time, get every seal that matters chaged at the first service, it could save a lot of future heartache. No comfort you though, and I really hope this is sorted quickly in your favour

Things must be very desparate if you are thinking of buying a Vauxhall! You should seek help, you are obviously feeling some guilt about you Tiv purchase, though it can't be that bad that you need to punish yourself further by buying a Vauxhall.

Plug....sorry to hear of your troubles.....
I agree with gamekeeper....get the whole cylinder jobby...that's what we did.
Stick with it and get it fixed mate and hopefully the pleasure it will give will repay you the trouble now!
If all else fails....go with the Vauxhall Holden....
I have had Vauxhalls (Carlton and now an Omega) for the last 10 years and found them very good, reliable cars.
The Holden will be my next one (unless Ray succumbs and buys me my Griff!

Sorry to hear of yet more trouble.
As said, get the whole part replaced & dont let the dealer think for one second your hand is going anywhere near your wallet.
I also wouldnt expect to pay any recovery costs.
Was hoping to see you today, hope you can make it in another car - sounds like you could do with a chat.

It's great shame that you've had so little time in your car, only to have it repaired and fail again so soon .. however the faults you've had are well documented TVR failings, did you expect your car to somehow be immune?
It's a fact of life that if you own a TVR you've got to expect this kind of thing .. if you don't then you probably bought the wrong type of car in the first place, IMO. It's the harsh reality of life ...

If you trawl through the Porsche threads you'll find repetition of poor reliability in various models and components, it's just that wealthy and powerful Porsche are extremely adroit at covering "weaknesses."
Its not about "covering weaknesses", its about simple customer service in support of engineering integrity.
The engine on my 996 let go a couple of years back. Porsche gave me another 911 while they put a new engine in. Inconvenience factor was zero, cost was zero. I really did'nt care that the engine had let go.
Similar experiences on some of the early generation of M3's that suffered failure. BMW just coughed up the cost and fixed the problem. 99% of owners frankly did'nt care that the engine had gone because there was no pain involved and you trusted them when they say they will fix it.
A lesson here I think.
And this master cylinder seals failing business is just nonsense. It would happen less if the components were designed and supplied to a higher standard.
I had a Porker 993 which went for weeks and sometimes a couple of months unused because I was away on business a lot. It never missed a beat, never threw a hissy fit, and always worked fine.

I expected things to go wrong, just not in such a short space of time. I have the car for 6 months now and it has been of the road for over two of them. I still love the car and when it is running ok I would not change it for anything else, but I get fed up when it goes wrong because I cant use it. I have had many cars before that have been unreliable but I have allways fixed them myself everything from changing an exhaust to head gasgets and engines, but I dont have the time or garage space to do that any more, not that I would on this car anyway. As I said I do love the car and will keep it and probably buy another one when I do decide to sell this one.

Sorry Jools, I have the greatest respect for you but in this case I think thats a little harsh.
You may expect a few problems over time when owning any TVR, but this case takes the biscuit because of the short period of time involved.
Time for customer care to come to the forefront in this case me thinks.
I'll say no more - its not my place.

I'm sorry but I've read this thread and can't help thinking 'If you buy ANY second hand car get it checked out BEFORE you part with any money'. If you don't know enough about the marque yourself find someone who does.
