Low oil pressure after track day.

On Monday I did a track day in my 1998 Griff 500 that has 18000 on the clock. Everything went OK, eg water temps and oil pressure, even on the 150 mile journey home the oil pressure was fine.
Today I started the car up and the oil pressure was only 30 psi at cold. This is abnormal for the car as I've had it 18 months and it always runs at just above the calibration between the 30 and 60 psi marker.
I turned off the engine immediately and now I'm on here seeking advice.
Should I start the car up again before getting someone to look at it? basically my question is what the f
s the matter with it?
PS: the engine sounds normal, as it always has.
This has got me really worried.

Maybe the oil got too hot on the track and is now stuffed. First thing I'd do is get an oil and filter change and see if that fixes it.
Had the same thing with a Subaru Impreza once -- coming away from the track the gearchange was very clunky, and it wouldn't go into fifth!
I assumed it was knackered, but changing the gearbox oil out for some decent stuff (Silkolene SYN 5) and the gearchange was fine from there onwards (I sold the car 70k miles later!)
I also used to change the oil either before or after every track day. Oil is cheap, but engines aren't.

I had the same problem with my Griff. pressure was so bad after a good thrashing that the idiot light flickerd on tickover, water temp never got above normal parameters.
Did the usual headless chicken panicking routine thinking my pride and joy was terminal etc.
did an oil and filter change and all was ok.
I was using Mobil1 and only done 3k since last change, but i guess this synthetic stuff must get very thin when you cook it.
I have also changed to a thicker oil as well now, having read the OIlman thread on here a few weeks back

Yes, just bought new oil and is going to have it changed on Wednesday. I phoned Peninsula up and was told to get the car up to running temperature and see what the pressure was then. When the car got hotter the pressure did rise to nearly normal. He also said that the oil was probably stuffed. I think it is also as it is running with pressure slightly down from norm.
