I'm getting a bit of miss-firing when the engine gets hot, going to try running without the shrouds to see if the fault is with them or the HT leads, is that okay?

The leads and shrouds are relatively new, as in they have only done a few thousand miles, although they were bought a few years back, do they deteriorate with age? Shrouds are still nice and shiny and leads look good. Anything else I should be looking at?

Car's a pre-cat Griff.

Theres no reason to need the shrouds electrically speaking- its just keeping heat off the plug caps as the manifold is so near. Im sure you will be fine just as a test to remove them.

I'm running the front 4 without shrouds and the rear with on my Chim, seems to be ok. Have some heat socks on order as you can't get replacement shrouds for love or money anywhere.

Thanks, I'm going to try this morning. Anything else that I should be looking at? Does the coil break down under heat? Ignition amp?

Where did you order the socks from? Everywhere I've seen them, they're a tad expensive! I managed to get two shrouds from Clever Trevor, but I need another one and as you say, they're like rocking horse poo. I've positioned some heat resistant sheet over the manifolds (held on with metal cable ties) on the side the shroud's missing, which seems to be working OK.

Well looks my shrouds/extenders are knackered. Been running for a few miles without them and the engine is pulling like a train! Strange as the shrouds have only done a few thousand miles, they look good as new.

So fixed the fault, now I need to find some protective sleeves that are a reasonable price. The ebay link posted above has no stock.

The ones from the states are in stock in my link.

Similar price as well due to good exchange rate at moment.
