Hi All

My chimaera 400 is running a little rough(rich, lack of top end acceleration etc) and it's been said it might be worth having the ECU remapped ,
Can anyone recommend were I can get this done in the Kent/ Surrey area and what price range it comes into ?

Thanks for your help

Hi Terry,

I think I may have seen your car recently along the Croydon Rd near Keston common.

I don't know why you think you need a remap? Do you have Rover Gauge and one of the connection leads? That will tell you how things are running relative to the map on the ECU. No fault codes and the long-term and short-term trim settings in tolerance would suggest something more fundamental before you start changing the way TVR thought that things should work.

Hi Graham
Think we passed one another one Sunday morning ?
Car is running very rich( smell of unburnt fuel and no grunt at top end ) someone said needs remapping but I am not sure
Don't have fault reader but will look into when back off holiday ( seating on a beach but still thinking of my pride and joy lol)
Thanks for the heads up and might see you out and about again one day

Hi Terry,

I think we did! When you are back, drop me a line and we can connect you up to my Rover Gauge if that would help?

Thats really bad advice- only remap on an engine that is know to have NO faults and clean injectors etc. There can be many reasons for it to run rich, it would not have left the factory like that with the TVR map on a working engine.

Hi blitzracing
Thanks that's why I need to have it checked out first before thinking of remapping ,would a fault finder tell me this ( sorry not used one before ,) our would resetting the ECU do that ?

An ECU reset is of limited use, it simply resets the fuel trim and clears any error codes. In terms of diagnostics- at its most basic is a two digit fault code if the ECU has picked anything up (about £50). Then there is the ECU mate that gives you Error codes, and basic sensor data in a hand held unit, (about £120) and finally RoverGauge- (software free -interface cable £35) this gives you just about every parameter you can think of from the ECU and fault codes, but needs a laptop as well. Worth asking if anyone has any of these local to you.
