P559 PLM - Cerbera for sale
Discussion
Hi,
I've posted this on the Cerb forum but thought I'd try here as well.
Does anyone know this Green Cerb for sale at a dealer;
www.dealer.autotrader.co.uk/_willowBrookframe7.htm Its about half way down the stock list
Is this price likely to be too good to be true or about right for time of year etc. and is it true you should stay away from the 96 Chims as they're more unreliable than the later models?
I was originally budgetting this much for a Chim but am sorely tempted to at least take a look as I soooo love the Cerbera.
Obviously I would never buy without a full inspection but any first hand knowledge or opinions would be great before having to pay out for one.
The dealers based in Stamford so I'd guess the car is originally from that area.
Thanks in advance for all your help...

recently "sold" on ebay for £13,200

I assumed it was the auction winner reselling it for a quick £800 profit but the pics are the same so perhaps the seller pulled the auction and is still selling it. Or perhaps its just an old advert and is already sold.

It's cheap, but not too cheap.
Take a look in the Cerb forum for what is likely to go wrong with an early Cerb, if all the things like the cams, clutch etc... have been done, then it should be fine. Or at least no more expensive than any other Cerb.
Be warned though, Cerbs can be horrendously expensive to run.

Just been to have a look at this. Needs tyres, MOT in 2 mths, Full history but due a 12 mth service, needs new steering wheel as current one is almost threadbare, both footwells very wet (says he did it wiping of last nights rain) wipers not working (poss easy fix) and centre armrest looking pretty tatty and sagged. Rest of interior OK but not pristine. Everything else appears to work OK but obviously not too mechanically minded so couldn;t check rest without an inspection.
The car has done 4k since Nov 03 and theres no evidence of new clutch/cams etc ie/ all the main problem parts.
Hes also unwilling to budge on price despite the fact they offered it on E-bay with a 12k no reserve starting price. They will also only throw in a 28 day warranty and will grudgingly re-MOT it should I decide to purchase.
Good point though is on test drive I did get a couple of very nice smiles from some very pretty ladies. Didn't realise just how much attention one of these things would bring...

Sounds like alot of work considering the price... There are a fair few for sale out there - so you can be afford to be picky - esp as they arent willing to negotiate the price.
The need for a service/tyres alone should be £1k off the price.

Exactly the reason I walked away. I've decided to go back to my original plan and look for a Chim instead, at least for this price I should have a damn good selection to choose from.

There are decent Cerbs out there to be had at reasonable money. I agree it'll be easier finding a Chim, but it'll be slower/ handle worse/ wont be as safe etc etc
Your call - I wouldnt give up after seeing one rough cerb.
