Good idea or not? I'd like to get it cleaned before taking some pics, just wondering what the best bet is.

How fragile is this car then. Do I need to wrap it in cotton wool? I assumed the were fairly tough old brutes, but then clearly I know nothing.

Don't get him wet and don't feed him after midnight biggrin

Think of them like a watch, they're more water resistant than waterproof...

I wouldn't put any car through an automatic car wash. Just wash it with a Brillo pad for the same effect.

The car wash might damage the roof, so I would stow this in the boot

Go buy some Meguiar's Gold class Quick detailer...Easy 20 mins of light rubbing car looks amazing.

No, you get a much better finely scratched all-over effect with a car wash.

Alternatively, lower a window and fill it up with a hose for a really deep clean. biggrin

Putting any convertible through a car wash is asking to get wet. Putting a British car through a car wash is asking to get soaked.

I use Meguiars in the bath, lathers really well, better than imperial leather, and makes you smell lovely like a TVR. As for car washes, dont do it, you won't put your porker through one would you?

nono Putting ANY car through a car wash is asking for trouble not just TVR, unless of course you like the look of a fked up paint finish.
The manual car wash's you see around the place now [usually on old filling station car parks] are WORSE!!! See them washing the wheels with all the brake dust crap and then the bonnet, then another wheel and then the doors, then the sills and then the roof yikes
Wash it yourself, wash it properly and take some pride in doing so. soapbox

Depends how you value your time I suppose. I'd rather not tie up hours of my weekends cleaning the car over and over again, and instead just have it cleaned and every year and a have have the paintwork detailed.

I'll bet my 911 has far less scratches and swirl marks than most cars on here as I had the paint detailed in Jan for £300.
