Where do the 5 hood retaining studs locate?

I have taken my hood off today to fix a corners coming away. The 5 rear alley key bolts holding the back come out easy enough but when I go to put it back together only the outer edge ones seem to have threads on the end of them. I was presuming they would all be captive. Seems not. Behind the panel in the boot above the take? (to late to do now). If bolts then how is a 1 man job to hold the bolt one side while threading in the thre centre alley head bolts?

yep they are just bolts in the boot. and you need to take the rear boot panel out.


I think there were two of us when i put mine back on, and from memory it was still a PITA

edited to say, although if you are lucky i thing the bolts go in afold in the grp so if you can get them started they will probably wedge and not turn

I have just done this job single handed and still have the scratches on the back of my hands to show.

On mine the two outer ones closest to the fold-up hoop are cross-head self tappers, with the remaining three allan bolts having 10mm nuts with washers on the back. If you take out the carpetted panel above the petrol tank (its just wedged in) you can just feel the ends of the bolts under the body.

With care, you can just reach the bolts to place the nuts and washers on.

As a tip, push a cloth down behind the tank to catch the nut. You WILL drop it about fifty times before it gets on the thread, and that way you won't need any spare nuts (they won't always drop out of the bottom!)
