Water readings on Sagaris - Help
Discussion
hello I'm wondering if someone can help, I have a problem with my Sagaris the water reading on the dash is showing low level/empty coolant level yet when I check the physical level its fine. I've even topped up to be on the safe side only for it to spit back out back to its natural level.
I'm not technically minded so other than take it to the garage which is 45 minutes drive away I'm at a loss any help or advice would be appreciated.
thanks

OK, Water Temp....could be a faulty sensor. Which value(s) does the Display show you for the Water Temp ? Are they coherent ?
Maybe the sensor....the one which is used for the Display are not very reliable, but expensive :-)
And you could do the following: Download my Diagnosis-Software (you'll find the necessary thread here in PH) and look what the second water temp. sensor for the Engine ECU shows...so you can compare both.

I,d agree with Oliver.
Almost certainly the display sensor. This located at the front of engine, located under air box on the block under No. 2 throttle body. Maybe the plug has come off or sensor is kaput.
The other temp sensor by No. 5 throttle body is just for the ecu. If engine is running OK, then sounds like it is just the front sensor. About £10 from suppliers to buy.

Try somewhere from £28/35 depending on who you buy from!
I need the same sensor (Thermistor) for air (front apron) & oil temperature and with postage no change from £60+

Thermistor, coolant temperature sensor
Part NumberTVR M1275
Product Description
OE temperature sensor for coolant, oil and heating- aircon. This sensor is used in up to 5 places on the later Speed 6 engined cars to give temperature feedback. This is the front sensor in the TVR Speed 6 cylinder head and is the coolant temperature sensor for the dashboard. It is also used as the oil temperature sensor in the dry sump tank. It is the ambient air temperature sensor in the nosecone of all the Speed 6 engined cars except Cerbera. It is also used twice in the air conditioning system for measuring hot and cold air temperature in Speed 6 cars again apart from Cerbera. This is the OE part at a great price.
Price £29.94 inc. VAT @ 20.00%
Price £24.95 ex. VAT
Car Club Price £27.69 inc. VAT @ 20.00%
Car Club Price £23.08 ex. VAT
Fits the following TVRs:
Cerbera Speed 6, Sagaris, T350, Tamora, Tuscan, Tuscan 2 - PLUS Postage
The funny thing is: The N7000 is a Bosch sensor, which is very reliable, accurate and cheap.
The M1275 (the TVR sensor) is unreliable, imprecise and expensive. And TVR used it on a lot of places: OilTemp, WaterTemp, Ambient AirTemp and in the T-Cars two or three of them for controlling the heating system.

Oops - stand corrected!
Always thought they were interchangeable?
Nick
No worries, just trying to pass on "lessons learnt" - My 2002 Speed Six (Tam 3.6 variety) self destructed and when the very nice Dom Trickett handed back a 4.3, he informed me that mine was a seriously early model - May/Jun 2001!! So much so, it had your version of the ECU sensor in the front position (dash sensor) and also in the oil tank - When Dom replaced the block, first the sensor and its connector needed sorting (to the earlier post - they are NOT interchangeable as the connector is different, as is the response to temp for the Dash too)! So also did the Dash ECU as the "new" version also came with a new version of the dash ECU firmware. I'm just sorting the oil tank with a different sized thread for the "new" sensor!!Always thought they were interchangeable?

Happy days!
