Its pottering time in Roseys garage and I have a few jobs to do, quite a few of which involves the dreaded silicone. Went to the shelves and the cupboard is bare so I need to stock up. Went to the search engine to find out the best stuff to use and did not get any conclusive evidence as to the best stuff for different jobs so over to you guys.

I need to seal around the brake fluid reservoir
I need to rebond and seal the Perspex headlight covers
I need to change the sump gasket and will go for silicone this time

So I need:
1-some black bonding silicone - it seems to be Sikaflex 221 as the favoured option.
2-to seal around body parts and grommets - Tiger seal seems popular but which one or can I use sikaflex 221 for this as well?
3-what is recommended for the sump gasket>

Cheers

teacher Sikaflex and Tigerseal are not silicone, they are polyurethane sealants!

There are big differences wink

Don't use silicon on the lens covers..... My old Chim has the rear lenses siliconed and when you polish the car it comes away. Sika al day long for those jobs. Cannot comment on what silicon for sump though.

Dirko HT for the sump

Poly like Sika 221 for the body apertures that are intended to be 'permanent', a black DIY silicone for the clutch m/c cover

I use Tiger seal on the light pods.

Normal diy black silicone around the brake m/c.

Sump, well im using self adhesive rubber foam stuff of ebay to good effect. 10mm x 5mm takes up any imperfections in the sump mating face.

I have found the black silicone sealant made by Fiat and sold at their dealerships to be far the best for gaskets. Wonder why....scratchchin

Yep i no longer use Sikaflex around brake fluid resv - just use normal black silicone - easier to remove & not required high strength. Sika for everything else.

^ This. Sikaflex is far more adhesive like and much more difficult to remove. £3.99 for a tube of black bathroom sealant did it for me around the brake reservoir.
